The plug-in in my ensuite stopped working on a Saturday morning knocking out the power to my whole bathroom. I called and left a message and Ron called me back right away. He was here by the afternoon to fix my problem. He and his helper were thorough making sure that the plug was the problem and not just a symptom and explained to me what they were working on. I would use their services again.

Thank you Brett for the review, from the information you gave me with the initial phone conversion i knew the electrical issue should not take too long to resolve but i wanted to insure that there didn't have to be a return call for the same issue. If i investegated every aspect that i could that had to do with that same problem circuit then i can feel certain that my job was complete.

Our initial impressions with Lux Windows were quite positive, but quickly soured. From our initial 7 week install wait it was an additional 4 weeks late starting. They broke the sash window and latch during the install. When the sash was replaced it was installed crooked and the installer never made note, we had to point it out. Lux's installers are ok with substandard work is our assumption. Service people were routinely sent out on numerous occasions without all the parts or tools while all this was happening. We dealt with Kevin the Service Manager after initial install. He gave many assurances the problems would be addressed, but never stepped in to personally make sure they were. Lots of assurances and no action. Our nearly four and a half month ordeal with Lux for one door is totally unacceptable. On top of that the sash/side window has been taken apart three times for servicing, which make us question the integrity of the final product. John the owner did call and apologise and sent us a flower arrangement, which was a nice gesture, but doesn’t guarantee the final product or make up for the inconvenience we went through.

Hi Brett! It's disheartening to hear that you didn't have the best experience with Lux Windows. We are proud of our reputation in Calgary for excellent quality and service. As a family business, when a matter does arise, we all meet to review and rectify. Our family wants everyone to have an outstanding experience, so when we heard of your dissatisfaction, the owner John Petrillo personally called and sent you flowers to apologize and wanted to assure you that we take these matters to heart. In your review, you had mentioned that our final product is not guaranteed, please rest assured that Lux Windows proudly boasts a 25-year warranty on our products and a 5-year installation warranty. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you.

We found Shed Solutions online and saw the great reviews here on Homestars and we agree! They did a great job from beginning to end. The sales people were knowledgeable, the installers were friendly, and not to mention the shed looks great. They we also on time, on budget and no surprises. We are really happy with the final product and would use them again in the future.

This could easily have been a full ten rating with better customer service in the later stages of our project. Our new hardwood floors look great, the installers were friendly, and took time to explain what they were doing when we were home. Dean (our salesperson) was very knowledgeable and more than once stopped by our place on his own time to re-measure when we changed our minds about something. Also, we got a few quotes before deciding and Lakeview was not only cheaper, but stayed in budget. Sadly, after you sign the work contract they get the job done, but don’t want to talk to you anymore. On the two occasions I needed to talk to someone I left messages and no one returned my calls. The carpet installer was scheduled to come and tuck some carpet (which was the last thing needed to be done), but he didn’t show. No one bothered to call to tell us a work order hadn’t been filled out for him, so he wasn't coming. It did get done, but a heads up would have been nice since we had made arrangements for him to get in. Finally, our project has been completed a little over two weeks now and we haven't had a phone call or even simple email asking how we liked our new floors or even to thank us for our business! I would recommend them on their final product, just don’t expect a thank you.

What a difference your choice in contractor makes! This was our second major project in about a year and did not invite the first contractors back for repeat business. We WOULD however ask Ashwood back if we have another project in the future. We dealt with Rod and Mike, but almost solely with Mike once the project started. They started when they said they would and finished the job in the 9 week time frame. There were a couple minor touch ups after that time, but we had full use of our basement during that time. Mike was professional and great to deal with. He would give his opinion on logistics or look, but would always say it is our space and he would do what we wanted. We would definately recommend Ashwood and we already have to people we know.

I see all the great reviews below, but that was not our experience at all. MIG must have been looking after all them and not our project! What we had done: ensuite almost fully renovated: wall unit & cabinets installed w/new sink, new tub and tile, new flooring, new fixtures, and shower was retiled. Granite counter tops along with upper/ lower cabinets and a pantry style cabinet added in the kitchen. Cabinet and counter added in mud room. Here is what we experienced: - Project plan 6 -8 weeks. We understand there are delays, but reno took from July 30th to Nov 19th which was 16 weeks. - Demoed ensuite to start the project Jul 30, then very little was done leaving us without the use of our bathroom for months. Told was done and able to use except for the mirror Oct 29th. Mirror finally installed Nov 10th but was not centered, fixed Nov 19th ending project. - Waited weeks for ensuite reconstruction to start. Called Warren he said "I was expecting this call two weeks ago". Why didn't he call to explain long before I had to call then? Were told the cabinet company lost the order, Warren never checked on the progress, had to reorder when they never came on expected delivery date. - Counter for the mud room wasn't installed, we asked where it was. Were told it was cancelled with the cabinet order... I thought the cabinet order was lost not cancelled, which was it? - After cabinet mix up, only heard from Warren when it was time for them to get paid and never heard from Odessa again. Before the work started Odessa assured us that they focus on the job and would be with us every step of the way, that didn't happen. Found out from a sub contractor a guy named Sam was organising the work on our place for Warren. Sam never contacted us or met us until the last week in October, when most of the job was completed. - Cabinets were finished in the ensuite for weeks, but mirror was not measured until the last week of October. Were told was a "miscommunication" between Sam and Warren. - After waiting and discussing what we wanted with both Warren and Odessa on more than one occasion; extra cabinets were ordered for the mud room we didn't want and a few were the wrong type/finishing. At least one drawer front in the kitchen was ordered incorrect. Corrected drawer front finally installed Nov 12th. - Warren repeatedly told us he would send us drawings, info, choices, etc. And we always had to request he send it days later when we were still waiting for it. - Warren is always late and seems disorganised (is this where the "lost" orders come from?). One time he even showed up to take measurements without a tape measure or even a pen to write them down! - Sam told us we would get cleaners coming in when the project wrapped up; didn’t happen. - We were told that Warren would sit down with us to review our budget savings/overruns, but that didn’t happen either. Just sent us our last invoices and requested we leave cheque for them to pick up. While we were satisfied with the final product, if you are looking for customer service and a timely renovation, we would definitely NOT recommend MIG Homes. If you are still considering them but have a question on our experience I can be reached at temporary29@hotmail.com
