Eddie provided a quote for work on a replacement 12x10 deck in my backyard. Quote was for $6750. I demolished and disposed of the deck on my own. I was also providing the composite deck boards. Not knowing what the going rate was, I agreed. My mistake. Work began 2 weeks later than the quoted start time. Work commenced on the support frame and base of the deck. I previously advised Eddie that I would only provide the deck boards as stated in our contract, but i still had to order all the screws myself. Eddie graciously discounted the price of the screws from the total cost. We changed our minds on style the deck boards and reordered, causing a 3 day delay. Materials were delivered on the Monday and worked commenced when it stopped raining 3 days later. After Eddie's team finished up, they did a quick
run through and asked if I liked it and they left. I had no idea that was the final inspection. I had to recall Eddie and tell him there were 6 unfinished tasks. I don't believe I should have had to tell them their job was incomplete. Eddie's crew showed up the next day to finish up the outstanding items. After they were done, I had concerns with the hand rails being full of chipped wood. I asked them to trim it off as it posed a risk to my 2 small children (4 and 2) with splinters . they told me that it was how they normally left the hand rails. When I insisted they trim it, they huffed and said I was the only customer ever to complain. Then they said that if they sanded it down it would ruin the look. Instead of arguing even more, I told them forget it, I would do it myself. If they had just taken the time and drilled pilot holes before screwing them in, this would have been avoided. The crew was
efficient due to cutting corner and lacked the craftsmanship. I paid 6750 minus screw refund, i had
high expectations. They were not met. I would not recommend this company if you want a deck made
with care. 1 month after install every single hand rail is deformed. Eddie would not do anything to rectify the situation because it states in the contract that wood naturally warps. This is just poor installation resulting in a poorly finished job. Avoid if you're doing decks.
