We first learned of New Steel Roofers at the Toronto Home and Reno Show where we were introduced to their Metstar Slate-Series product. Compared to all the other steel roof products that we researched, the Metstar granulated steel shingles were the only product line that provided the "look" and "texture" of asphalt shingles with the durability of steel. The salesman Chris was prompt to visit our house and provide a detailed quotation. He was also very polite, friendly and readily available by phone to answer questions throughout the entire installation. We had 3 other steel roofing companies provide competitive quotes and New Steel Roofers pricing was competitive - but not the cheapest. Installation was estimated to take up to 15 business days (weather permitting) and the job was completed within this timeframe. The installation crews were polite and hard working. They did their best to clean-up every night however, I am still picking up cigarette butts out of our gardens. (I wish they would use a can or ashtray or something...) All things considered, we are extremely pleased with the product quality and the professional and skilled workmanship of the installers. I would definitely recommend New Steel Roofers to anyone considering to replace their roof with a steel product. If I could offer one constructive criticism to New Steel Roofers it would be regarding safety. We have quite a high and steep pitched roof. Not once did I notice the workers on the roof tie-off as required by law. This is a huge liability! In fact, one day when the workers did not show up, we were informed that it was because one of them had fallen off our roof! Luckily the ground below was soft and I was told he was OK. A minor issue, but I recall being a bit frustrated when, to take advantage of good weather, we agreed to have the crew work both Saturday and Sunday which was quite disruptive to our weekend schedule-only to have them not show up on the Monday without any notice.

We are very pleased with the Skylights installation. Installation of 4 skylights took approximately 2 weeks to complete as quoted. A little bit messy, but that was expected. The installation crew took extra care to ensure that counters and cabinets were protected during the install. Our kitchen has been transformed from a dark dingy corner - to a bright, welcoming, room with plenty of natural light. When some minor problems did arise, Denis made extra efforts in making sure the issues were resolved efficiently and satisfactorily without question. It is clear that the installers were diligent and demonstrated pride in doing a good job. Ed was very understanding and tried his best to accommodate our requests and preferences and Chris really took his time and did a great job on the taping and plastering. I would highly recommend Skylights Unlimited to anyone considering installation of skylights in their home.
