We obtained 3 quotes for our basement underpinning. We chose to go with Rock Bottom because they edged out their competition on all of our most significant criteria: cost, time required, estimated start time and references. Rock Bottom underpinned our existing basement of approximately 125 linear feet. In addition to the usual scope of work for underpinning, our project included demolition of our existing basement drywall, framing, flooring, etc. The crew also installed hydronic flooring. We got off to a slow start. We signed our contact on March 21st, but didn't submit our permit application until June. Blain from Cadmonkeys who worked with us to prepare the floorplan for our permit application was not very responsive. The permit was issued on July 24, but we weren't made aware of that until August 11th. The work started in October. Once the work began, it went very smoothly. The crew worked tirelessly, six days a week. They finished the job on time, which was much appreciated because we had other work scheduled to begin shortly after. We are very happy with the quality of the work Rock Bottom did for us. That's most important to us. It was completed for the agreed price, without any surprises. The crew took great care not to damage our home and to keep the site clean. Jamie, who oversaw the work, kept us informed of progress and thoughtfully suggested ideas to make the new layout ideal, such as the placement of the overhead beams, sump pump, sewage ejector and water meter. Overall, we were happy enough with the underpinning that we agreed to have Rock Bottom finish our basement. That work is currently underway, and the quality is looking very good, indeed. We would recommend that you seriously consider Rock Bottom for your basement underpinning.

Yan and her crew repaired the grading around my home and in the process, they replaced the garden fabric and stones. The work was done to address an issue highlighted in my home inspection. Yan politely answered my questions about how to address the drainage issue and provided good advice. She and her crew were punctual and efficient. They completed the job as agreed and left my garden looking so much better! I would certainly ask Yan again to help with my landscaping needs.

SafeTech is obviously a company that prides itself on superior customer service! I switched to SafeTech from another alarm company because I wasn't happy with that company's monitoring service. Not only did I get more attentive and accurate monitoring, but I also got a lot of advice on equipment, superior equipment servicing and a cost savings to boot! When I moved, I did not hesitate to ask SafeTech to install an alarm system at my new house. I also asked SafeTech to re-key my locks. I have been very happy with SafeTech. I would recommend SafeTech to anyone who is looking for better home security.

They came on time and worked quickly and professionally to move my furniture and belongings. When I unexpectedly needed to store my belongings a few more days, they were very accommodating. They also made a stopover at a storage unit to drop off some of the goods. All-in-all, it went smoothly.

Erin provided us with a comprehensive report suggesting what we could do to prepare our house for sale. We implemented all of the suggestions and were wowed by the results! In fact, we were tempted to stay in our home now that it looked so beautiful! We should the report to the realtors we interviewed. They, too, were impressed. They said that the report was “very professional” and that level of detail was unusual. In addition to the report, Erin provided a staging proposal. The realtors told us it was also very professional and competitive. In the end, we chose free staging from our realtors, but we are confident that had we chosen one of the staging options Erin suggested, our home would have looked amazing! I would not hesitate to highly recommended Erin’s services. By the way, Erin came highly recommended to us by a friend who had used the full complement of her services and had been very satisfied.

About 2 years after we moved into our newly built home, the grout between the tiles in our kitchen and hallway started cracking. At first, we applied epoxy to fill in the gaps, but the situation worsened. More grout cracked, and then the tiles started to crack. We used up our only replacement tile, and the pattern was discontinued in the meantime. Other contractors told us that we would have to replace our entire floor (about 480 sq.ft.), but Rod saved us a lot of money by replacing the mortar for the tiles that were loose and the grout throughout the entire floor. He also replaced a cracked tile by pulling one up from behind the stove and replacing the one behind the stove with a near match. Time will tell as to how long the job lasts, but it seems that in our case, there was probably no need to replace the sub-floor and all of the tiles. We like that Rod did not seem to try to sell us work that we didn't need. He listened to our needs and responded appropriately. We told him that we didn't want him to skimp on the quality of the materials or the attention to detail. It seems that he really heard us. Rod did a thorough job. He replaced the grout not only in the visible places, but even behind the appliances. It looks like a completely new floor! One bit of advice I would give is to make sure that you cover any openings to other rooms because when removing the grout, dust goes all over the place. I would highly recommend Rod to anyone looking for an honest contractor who will listen to your needs and do a good tiling job.

Hi Blair.

It was a pleasure working for you, thank you for the nice words and unfortunately after covering all of the walls from floor to ceiling the dust can get to the smallest places.
All the best,

Rod

Mimmo and his crew did a fabulous job. They drastically improved the curb appeal of our house. In fact, it's probably no coincidence that a real estate agent stopped by a day later asking whether we were interested in selling! None of the contractors I have hired so far has taken quite so much pride in their work. Mimmo insisted on using high quality materials (e.g. Brussel Block and Envirobond) and not skimping on the excavation, base materials and levelling. He offered numerous suggestions for colour and design, to make sure that we would like the result. His suggestions didn't stop at the quotation stage. He was thinking all of the time about how to do the best possible job. He even offered minor adjustments free of charge up until the end of the job. I was also impressed by the diligence and efficiency of Mimmo and his team. They arrived before we left for work each day and completed so much work in a single day that one of my neighbours asked me where I had found such hard workers. They were careful not to disrupt our comings and goings, and cleaned up after themselves. In fact, they tidied up so much that they left our garage cleaner than how they had found it! I would happily recommend ForeverStoneDesign. The job they did is top quality and absolutely beautiful! If I ever need any further landscaping, I know who to call.

Jay arrived as promised, despite the blizzard. He and his colleague cleaned the sofas like new, beyond my expectations ....and, by the way, better than the last company I hired to do the same. What's more, Jay came back - again, as promised - and removed unexpected water marks that formed overnight in the drying process. Honestly, I didn't expect him to come back. I've had my fair share of bad experiences with other companies. Thank you, Jay! I wholeheartedly recommend you and your company.

Claude and his team did an excellent job finishing our basement. First, they installed a drainage system (WaterGuard) and floor tiles. Then, we were so pleased with the work they had done that we called them back to install walls and a ceiling! They were knowledgeable and professional. They helped to improve the design of the walls, suggesting changes that would better suit our purpose. They helped to complete our TV room by installing a TV wall mount and wiring speakers behind the walls. They also recommended different lighting, which, with hindsight, we realize we much prefer. We are really pleased with the quality of the materials as well as the look of our finished basement. There were, however, some opportunities for improvement. They were: 1. Due to improper measurement, it was discovered that the wall panels would not fit down the stairs. Therefore, a large piece of one of the stairwell walls had to be removed. Of course, this piece of drywall was later fastened back to the wall and painted over. The rest of the stairwell, too, was repainted. There was no extra charge. 2. There were some inconsistencies between the design and the work order. These inconsistencies resulted in the delivery of some materials that could not be installed. Installation of these materials will have to wait until a future phase. Anyway, it's just as well that the materials are down in our basement. No more holes in the drywall! 3. Due to other commitments, the final steps of the project were not completed until a couple of months after the intended completion date. In summary, despite the abovementioned opportunities for improvement, we would definitely recommend Clarke Basement Systems to our friends. They took pride in their work, acted responsibly and did a great job!
