Last summer, we embarked on a building project, a 10' x 10' Gazebo. We planned to build the Gazebo ourselves but decided it would be less frustrating to purchase a Gazebo kit. We were not happy with the quality of some of the pieces of lumber delivered. We called Bill at the store and he said he told the guys on the floor to pick out good quality lumber. He would have them picked up and replaced by the beginning of next week. We wanted to start our project on the weekend so we borrowed my brother's truck and exchanged the pieces that afternoon. The instructions were not written for laypeople but we managed (with some help from my brother). The weather never really cooperated but the buyers of our home liked it. This summer we plan to build another Gazebo at our new home here in Nova Scotia.

We purchased a central vacuum from the Home Depot location on Gerrard Street East. Service before the sale was excellent. Paul and I discussed installing the unit including potential pitfalls and tips to make things go smoothly. Service after the sale was another matter entirely. Paul transferred to a store outside of Toronto and the remaining staff were always off helping other customers. When I did track down a customer service associate (CSA), he was initially confused by my questions( Paul's tips were not part of the instruction manual) and it took forever to explain what I had done to that point. Once the CSA got up to speed, he was able to help. My lesson: Follow the written instructions unless you know what you're doing.
