1/10

This is an update to a 10/10 review I wrote prematurely a year ago (KarinL). My son and I hired Beera Construction to redo our front porch and a walkway that goes to the backyard. The owner and a worker came in late fall and worked extremely diligently for several rainy days to get the main concrete work done before the first snowfall. They did, and we were very impressed. So far, so good. Next, we made the gravest of mistakes: Out of trust and with good feelings, we paid for the job in full, despite its being about 3/4 done. By his actions thereafter, the owner lost all trustworthiness he had gained through his hard work. In the spring of 2021, my son and I both tried to contact Beera to finish the job. Most of the time he simply ignored our correspondence. Since he was fully paid, he just decided we were not worth further bother for him. When we did hear from him, he promised to come back, but he was just "so, so busy". I don't doubt that he was, but when one has a job that is unfinished, one must complete that obligation before taking on new ones. At any rate, we phoned and emailed him throughout the spring and summer of 2021. To his credit, he did come back one afternoon in the fall to do some of the work, but we are still left with a lot of cleanup, backfilling, and re-greening from his excavation. Not only that, but the concrete work is less than stellar. The concrete is pitted in several areas; this despite our following to a T his winter maintenance instructions of using the gentlest salt available and plastic shovels. We gave him plenty of time, until the first major snowfall of the season, to complete the work, and we have been exceedingly patient. In summary, we cannot in good conscience recommend Beera Construction to anyone. The company and its proprietor are not to be trusted. We also shall no longer use Homestars in our search for workmen. It is obviously not a reliable source of info. Best practice is to talk to neighbours and get word-of-mouth recommendations for contractors.

I was recommended these people by neighbours of mine. I needed a large tree in the backyard pruned of dead branches. They came, did the work, and left the area very clean in their wake. I like that this man and his wife work together, and I found them both very friendly and polite. I will hire them again if similar work is needed in the future.

Thanks for the taking the time to write this review Karin.
It was a pleasure to work for you and we'll see you soon over at your neighbors place.

Basically, I needed new eavestroughs, so I checked Homestars for recommendations. GTA Gutters was one of the top-rated in this category, so I chose it. It has only been a few days, so I can't speak to the longevity of the work, but Rinchin and his men did what looks like a very professional job, including re-routing several of my downspouts to less obtrusive locations. I should also mention that the price seemed very reasonable to me, though I did not get other quotes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone needing similar repairs. Honest, good tradespeople should be rewarded with positive word-of-mouth and plenty of jobs.
