I had worked with Marnie and Convertible before with good results so when we bought our new home they were on our list for estimates. They came in with a good price, we gave them the order and the initial install went ok. We noticed that the apprentice was doing fantastic work, clean and well finished but the main installer was a little sloppy and didn't seem to care. We asked him to run additional gas lines for us and he said he would do it directly (not through Convertible) and charged us way too much, did a really sloppy job and took weeks to finish the installation. This summer (1 year after installation) the air conditioning wouldn't work and when we called they said the unit was over 2 years old (it was under 1 year old) and out of warranty. We got that sorted out and they came and repaired the unit (coolant leak).

Company Response

Hi Mike, I remember you well, you used to live beside my cousin and originally bought from us due to our good work done at her house. Then we did your house in Oakville with great success as per our normal fashion.
I'm shocked and very sorry the gas line was 'sloppy', but I thank you for at least mentioning all our other good work. At this house in burlington, I remember being there. We installed a furnace, AC and some custom duct work to the basement and elsewhere. I had a look at the pictures of the job in our file, and it did look very neat and clean. So, I'm a bit surprised that you wouldnt call me to work out your unhappiness with the gas line. Its been almost 2 years. And as you said, we did come back to rectify the AC coolant issue for you.

Our installer had permission from me to 'go direct' with the gas piping, it was easier than having the office make a new invoice at the last minute. And since he didnt get the materials from our warehouse, and had to go get them at he last minute on his own, I said he could charge you direct. Lastly, the only other thing I can think would cause Dave - such an experience technician - to do a gas line sloppily would be the strange and very tight area at the side of your home where the gas meter was. It had windows everywhere, then the gas meter - and then the venting for the water heater and furnace, all of which have strict codes on their distance to eachother. I bet it was very hard to stand in that small space with the low hanging trees and bushes around to work in.

Either way, its always very upsetting for us to have any negative reviews, as we bend over backwards everyday to do the right thing in good and professional ways. I'm very sorry the gas line wasnt to your liking and if you have any needs in the future, please contact me directly and I will look after you.

We bought our new home in June of last year and jumped right into the needed renovations right away. First on our list was a new roof, and we called 3 or 4 roofing companies for estimates, Desi's being one of them. They were here within 3 days, gave us great input on how the work should be done and ended up being second lowest price (the lowest was from a company I wouldn't want to do business with after meeting their rep). We then found out that they had done about half of the roofs on our street and all the work appeared to be well done. Their crew showed up on time, repaired the roof structure and re-shingled the roof amazingly quickly. Cleaned up thoroughly and the roof looks great. Couldn't be happier and would recommend this company to anyone.
