Here’s my story. I have learned that the cheapest is not necessarily the best. Six years ago I got a new roof and it was put on top of the old shingles. At that time I got six quotes and went with the cheapest. Needless to say, within five months I had a leaky roof. I called them back many times to repair the leak. They eventually came but never repaired it properly – and my friend and I had to do a homemade patch job. It’s held until now, but I decided not to push my luck any longer. The time had come to get a proper new roof. I began the process of getting quotes and through Homestars I came across Robert at The Cutting Edge Roofing company. Having learned my lesson, I knew what I was looking for and Robert met all my requirements. I’m glad I went with my gut feeling this time and chose The Cutting Edge Roofing. They were not the most expensive, nor they were not the cheapest, but they were very reasonable. The crew of seven men arrived on the agreed upon date and time. They were professional and efficient. They were respectful of my property and took all necessary measures to ensure a safe and clean workplace. They worked quickly and the clean up was very thorough. It was a pleasure to get the service we agreed upon, for which I was paying. In fact, they went beyond what our contract stated; whether it was extra vents or repairing wood on the roof, there was never a question. When the owner of the company gets his hands dirty and works with his crew of seven, you know he takes great pride in the work his company does. Robert was on site to ensure the job was up to his high standards and that I was absolutely satisfied. Jimmy, the site supervisor, also worked alongside his crew. As promised, he took pictures of each step of the job so I could see the work being done up on the roof. In my case, that wasn’t necessary, as I joined them on the roof and the crew were very accommodating. I highly recommend The Cutting Edge.

Last year we hired Elite Designed Concrete to do a massive job on our front yard landscaping and driveway. We were so impressed with their creativity, professionalism and end result that we decided to call them back in to do more work in our backyard, extending our patio. Again, we were not disappointed. Again, Elite and their many crews impressed us with their excellent service, punctuality and performance. A week does not go by that somebody does not knock on our door to rave about our front yard. ***A MUST READ*** After getting nine quotes and researching stamped concrete companies, we chose Elite Concrete Inc. It wasn’t because of price: they definitely were not the cheapest. At our initial meeting with Raffy, one of the partners, we felt at ease with his sincerity and his knowledge of the business. We trusted him to be an honest person. We were not disappointed. In 2014 you can still find great customer service, where with a handshake, you can ‘seal the deal’….with a small, initial deposit. Lol. The many cohesive Elite crews who worked on our project over the weeks were not only skilled and efficient professionals; they were also courteous and helpful. The team crew leaders were thoughtful, polite and approachable. It was a pleasure dealing with the Elite crews. It was obvious to us that they are well trained and also treated very well by the company owners, Raffy and Marcelo. Nothing’s perfect and we had some concerns here and there. To their credit, the owners were good listeners and responded promptly to our issues. It was not unusual for Marcelo, after a long day’s work, to come in person at 9:00 pm, to answer any questions we had. Their ability to resolve any matter quickly and positively was exceptional. Like all homeowners, our house is our castle. And we appreciate that Elite treated our home, our huge expenditure, and us, with respect. There are so many ‘smooth operators’ out there, who talk a fast game. Some whom we met, have fancy showrooms and catalogues and sales people who hound you incessantly. Elite was different. Their showroom is their customer list. They offered us numerous addresses throughout the GTA where we could see their onsite work for ourselves. We saw an array of beautiful stamped concrete workmanship, which also helped to give us creative ideas for our project. We are so happy that we trusted our instincts and went with Elite. They are truly ‘the real deal’ and it is our good fortune to have hired them and our pleasure to refer them. And as a note of interest, we are also ‘the real deal’ – we are not family, friends or any other ‘Elite-commissioned’ referral. We paid them in full and are simply very satisfied customers.
