I have dogs I love very much, but that had multiple accidents on my new area rugs over the last seven weeks. I contacted a rug cleaner, but the cleaning was not to my satisfaction - I could still smell urine. After a search on Homestars, I came across Ben’s contact info and company name. Expensive, yes, worthwhile definitely. All I can say is I adore people who are dedicated to a superior level of customer service and Toronto Rug Cleaning is. I will be sharing my experience with friends and family.

We listed our home for sale on Saturday, January 30. There was a great deal of traffic through our home for the next four days and we accepted an offer that was conditional upon a thorough inspection on Tuesday, February 2. The inspection was set to be complete on Thursday, February 4. As we waited for the results, we were somewhat nervous, but being very diligent home-owners we did not think that the inspection would reveal anything bad. Horror of horrors, the inspector found mold in the attic. Thankfully, our buyers were agreeable and wanted it cleaned. We reviewed available companies on HomeStars Thursday evening, and called The Mold Guy that same night. I left a voice-mail message and was promptly called back the following morning and after given a thorough explanation of the mold removal process, we agreed to their terms and an appointment was set for Monday, February 8 at 7:00 AM. The team from The Mold Guy came in at 6:59 and promptly setup covering our bedroom furniture, and our walk-in with plastic. They executed their tasks in a very thorough manner with minimum fuss and a high degree of professionalism. After two hours of works, they announced that they were finished and gathered their things, removed the garbage and left. What can I say about the company and the team? Simply put - they exceeded my expectations. Now, since you do not know me, I will let you in on a secret - I'm very difficult and my standards are quite exacting, so that statement, exceeded expectations is neither quickly nor easily said. Definitely will recommend this company to my referral group, my friends, and my family.

We contacted a few companies to get quotes on installating an alarm system. The owner was helpful, courteous and responsive to our needs. The installation was the issue. The gentleman that came to our home did not clean up after he was finished. He made a hole in the wall and then changed his mind and moved the panel up higher. There was dust and wall fibres from his drilling that he simply left as is and those were left as a present to us - he did not mention that any clean-up was required. Our home is now being monitored in a satisfactory manner. All in all, the system was free, but you are contractually obligated to participate in the monitoring as a result and that is for a duration of three years. Update ------ August 2013 Apparently, we were misled. Once we completed the three year of monitoring we were contractually obligated to comply with, I called to terminate the monitoring and was told we were misled. That if we did not continue, we would either have to pay an additional 250 dollars to own the system, or continue for another three years, at which point, we would be able to terminate, or they could come and remove the unit. As for the repairs to my wall - we would need to fix the damage created by the installation of the unit. Would I go with this company again? No. The cost is not the issue. The constant back and forth is. We will buy the unit outright and that will be the end of that.

$25.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Bring a vaccuum to your installations and also, inform your clients that cleanup is required.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
If you have $700.00 CDN to put towards a system, have one installed otherwise, paying $25.00 monthly is a good way to go.

I was at a friend's home and loved her shutters, so I asked for the name of the contractor. I called Bev and setup an appointment for the following week. She came, took measurements and informed me of the cost. The shutters are considered environmentally friendly, and they were reasonably priced, so we decided to move ahead. They were ready within three weeks of purchase, and Ron, the installer came by to install them in our windows. He was finished within four hours and they looked beautiful. I was impressed by their professionalism, experience and desire in helping me to create a more beautiful home. I would highly recommend Taylor Made Shutters to anyone looking for shutters for their windows.

Eugene and his daughter were highly recommended by a friend. The recommendation mentioned his professionalism and his artistry with regard to painting and his attention to detail. Sadly, none of these were evident. First of all, he rushed to complete our home because he had another job. We had to remove the mirrors, light fixtures, outlets covers, etc., becauase they did not do it. Also, the door knobs, and the arm rail were painted over in areas because he did not remove those, also nor did he use painter's tape. The door and window frames were not done properly. The tops of the doors, and the tops and bottoms of the windows still have the original colour from the previous home owner. The house required an extra coat of paint in some areas because the original colour was quite bright and showed through - this was not done. I had him come to redo parts that were poorly done three times.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Develop a better work ethic and provide equal service to all clients.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get more than one referral. Inspect, if possible, the workmanship prior to engaging the contractor and never pay up front.
