Nora in West Hill, Scar.

Beginning mid-April, 2015, we had Harlequin Homes do a major renovation. The focus was a new kitchen which also entailed the removal of a wall between the family room and kitchen, plus movement of the dining room wall to further enlarge the kitchen. Compliant with the building permit, this resulted in a seamless ceiling, with no beams visible. A partial wall between the living and dining room was also removed to further enlarge and modernize the area. The affect was further enhanced with the lowering of the already generous kitchen window and replacing it with a one-lite window looking into our lovely yard and pool. The kitchen speaks for itself: it is much larger, inviting and stunning. We love it! Kitchen design (by Nataliya – very talented) and boxes were by Lucvaa Kitchens (www.lucvaa.com) – well-built and great features. Birdseye maple cupboard doors and trim were by Marbel Cabinet Doors (www.marbel.ca) with a beautiful, satin-like finish; Darren and Todd did a great job in ensuring perfection of the wood. The lovely unique backsplash adds colour and compliments the quality Birdseye. These tiles are a Spanish glass mosaic with gold and silver/platinum glazing that is designed to effectively reflect the light. (Purchased at Weston Tile, this Onix design is Cosmic, colour is Lucca). The family room nicely adds a hominess to compliment the open concept. We decided to also renew the laundry area and better utilize the existing closet by opening it up and installing customized shelving. Upgrading of the powder room finished things off nicely. Mike, the owner of Harlequin Homes, was outstanding. We appreciated his patience with last minute changes and his ability to creatively solve problems. He has great depth in home building and was highly efficient in getting the various jobs done – he really knows what he is doing. His team were tops in their skill areas – all were so proficient. Pricing was good value and the payment plan very fair. We felt total confidence in Mike’s abilities and highly recommend Harlequin Homes. After researching several companies incl. BBB and Home Stars, I ended up with three quotes from reputable companies. Midway was not only the most competitive, but the most thorough and professional. The detail in Glenn's quote was impressive and reassuring in that the package also included jobs done in my community, with the address, type and colour of shingle. They were very helpful in providing me with colour samples of shingles, shutters and eavestroughs - which took some co-ordination! I appreciated the fact that they could take care of everything, including replacement of my eavestrough. The new shingles on my roof (incl. 3 new pieces of plywood) were done on time and to perfection. Reno also did a wonderful job on the eavestrough. In both cases, the cleanup was meticulous. This company was great to deal with, trustworthy regarding their products, the quality of their job and costs involved - no surprises in the end. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

In November I had a floor drain installed in my furnace room. Mike took the extra time to ensure the drain was where he thought it was…and he was right! This ensured no extra digging of trenches and kept costs to a minimum – which were reasonable because I did have more than one quote. Using drawings, he also explained to me exactly what was involved. Care was taken to keep the traffic area leading to the furnace room protected and all the work area was neatly cleaned upon completion. I also appreciated use of the camera a second time to check on the condition of all pipes involved. Excellent work! Special thanks to Mike and Eric: friendly, professional workmanship.
