We're really happy with The Crack Specialists. We waited over a year to make sure their work held up through the next spring melt before writing a review. We've had 2 foundation cracks repaired by them (on 2 separate occasions) and they were excellent to deal with through the entire process! The office staff and technicians are friendly and professional, the service is inexpensive (about $500 per crack), the work is effective, and it comes with a lifetime warranty. It is very reassuring to have a company like this around when you are in a stressful situation of dealing with a flooding basement!

Hi Farrah, Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review even after a year has gone by! We are delighted you are pleased with our service. All the best to you.

Unfortunately it wasn't great dealing with this company because of small inconveniences which added up to an unsatisfying experience. They weren't terrible, and they did complete the service effectively (the wasp nest is gone), so I gave a 4 for that. After spraying the nest, the technician left without actually removing it, telling us to do it ourselves in a couple of days. We paid the $100, but he didn't have any receipts with him and we agreed that he could send the receipt by email. To be fair, when I called the company a day later to express my displeasure, they were very nice and understanding. They apologized and agreed that he should have taken down the nest at that time. They told me that someone would come within the next 3 business days. I asked them to make sure whoever came brought the receipt with them as I hadn't yet received one. After not hearing from them after 3 business days, I called again asking for the nest's removal because I had guests coming the next day. The original technician came back the next morning. I was glad he came before my guests arrived, however was frustrated that no one had called ahead. If he'd come 10 minutes later we wouldn't have been home. I also felt that he was unprepared; he asked for a plastic bag to pull down the nest because he didn't have any with him. I realize these things are not a big deal (obviously I'm not that attached to my plastic bags) but it gives an overall sense of a very unprofessional company. Again, the technician STILL did not have any receipts with him, despite my being assured over the phone that whoever came would bring one. 3 days later I received a jpg photo of a paper receipt by email. After waiting almost 2 weeks for a receipt, I expected at least something printable (pdf). Again, I realize it's not a big deal, but the reason I need the receipt is for claiming rental income expenses. I'd prefer to have a record that is a little more legitimate than a photo of a receipt. It seems by other reviews that the company standard is normally much higher (it's why I chose to go with them), so hopefully my experience wasn't representative of their normal service. However, having had this frustrating experience, I wouldn't call them again or recommend them to friends.

Company Response

Farrah,
I'm sorry that we did not meet your expectations. I am in complete agreement with your description of the situation, and you have my sincerest apology. As our company is growing, we sent our junior technician to your location. Unfortunately, as we have had other issues with this individual, and we expect a higher standard of ourselves, this person is no longer an employee of PPC services.

This company has no integrity and is completely unskilled. While I was overseas, my neighbours called this company to help my tenants get into the basement apartment they were accidentally locked out of. The man was here for 2 hours and drilled through the deadbolt AND doorknob of my front door. Instead of picking the lock properly, he completely ruined the deadbolt and doorknob. The worst part is that he was not successful in unlocking the door! So my tenants had to pay him (I reimbursed them) and stay with the neighbours anyway. In addition to having to pay for Reliable Locksmith for damaging my lock and door, I had to pay for a new doorknob and lock, and waste time replacing it. When I called the company to ask for a receipt, they said they would email it to me. I called the next day to say that I had not received the receipt yet, thinking there might have been a typo in the email address. Instead the receptionist told me that she couldn't send it because we (my tenants) had paid in cash and the price didn't include tax. So she had simply ignored my request and had not even bothered to send an email to inform me of this. By this point I was very frustrated and told the receptionist that we paid for work that wasn't even successful; basically I paid $50 for a man to ruin my door without helping my tenants. I asked for the $50 back. This caused her to quickly backtrack and say "okay, we'll send you a receipt." She did email me a receipt then, with almost every bit of information on it wrong. The address, the postal code, and even my name were spelled wrong or had typos. I requested this receipt for tax claiming purposes so the information had to be correct. I emailed her back immediately pointing out and the mistakes and asking for her to make the changes. I never received a reply! This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They are completely unprofessional and definitely not reliable. I would also like to note that this company operates under several names on its website; basically they use the names of cities in and around the GTA to attract hits - "Waterloo Locksmith," "Chatham Locksmith," and "Toronto Locksmith" for example. Their website looks like it has a lot of links but they all direct back the the same page, with a different title.

I've had work done by Home Pro Electric twice now, and will definitely call them again in the future. Excellent service - very professional and polite from the initial call to their office to the follow-up call they make after the work is complete. The work is done well and they clean up afterwards. Great company!
