I cannot recommend this company enough, and I will be telling all my friends. We had some black mold on the ceiling in the basement at my elderly parent’s house that was concerning. I contacted Puro-Clean and was connect with Rock, who was both personable and professional. My parents are a bit timid about strangers coming into their house. Rock put them at ease and was polite and answered all the questions they had. He took a look at the ceiling, opened it up and discovered a pipe next to a light was about to burst! If he hadn’t discovered that, the whole house could have gone up in flames. Rock called in a plumber friend and had the pipe and ceiling fixed in 15 minutes. My parents were amazed. I called around to many companies in Ottawa before settling on Puro-Clean. The receptionist and Rock each had a ring of authenticity about them that made me feel instantly comfortable with them. While other companies pitched at LEAST a $3,000 job on what I described, Rock chose the “let’s see first” approach. It speaks volumes on his ethics and reliability as a tradesperson. Be patient though; they’re so good they’re often booked up well in advance. That speaks volumes, too. But the wait is definitely worth it.

There's no greater feeling than finding a house and watching Brent's face become perplexed and then more determined as he searches and doesn't find anything wrong with it (well nothing substantial, but he couldn't leave without finding at least ONE thing :)). After the first inspection of another house I had found didn't pass (Brent found several critical issues with the home), I of course called him again to inspect my latest find, because I was so thoroughly impressed with his abilities the first time around. Again, he took great care to go over everything thoroughly, spent about three hours doing the entire inspection (you get your money's worth), and made sure I understood in non-builder speak exactly what he discovered. So I found my dream home, and now I have peace of mind thanks to Brent -- I can't wait to move in. If you're considering buying a home, do NOT buy it without getting it inspected -- it's totally worth the money. And if you want the best, I'd highly suggest you book Brent.

Peg, thank you so much for the feedback, but did you have to post my picture... I begged with you not to. Thanks. ;-) Anyways, Peg, that was a super nice home for you!!! You must be super excited with this one!!! A complete 180 degrees from the other. You're right; I do try and keep with the easy to understand terminology. If I start trying to impress people with all my home inspector lingo, I'll either bore them or completely confuse them. So I try and keep it simple so we all understand. Yes Peg, I do love when people tell me the house is being sold as "immaculate", and that I shouldn't find any problems. I hope that I don't find any problems. However, there's always something! Hey I did find a leak in the roof for you!... Thanks again Peg, and thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections!!!

Brent just saved my butt from buying a house that could have potentially cost me thousands in repairs in the very new future -- money I just don't have. There's a reason this guy has 10 out of 10 ratings -- he's just that good. He spent about an hour alone on three rooms on the ground floor of this three floor townhome I was looking at. During that time he found: a crack in the foundation that was leaking, black mold under the stairway and a plumbing leak from the first floor bathroom. The real estate agent was a bit flabbergasted because she had had her own inspector through the townhome only a year or so earlier and her inspector had missed these things. Brent has a very fine eye for detail and will spot things you will likely miss with an untrained eye. He was extremely patient with an overprotective father who had a million questions and dealt with the entire inspection with the best sense of humour I've come across in a long time. He is genuinely brilliant at his job and gives you a manual you can take home to review what he found. He also provides you with a synopsis and photos of the house he inspected. But what struck me most about him is that he genuinely wants to see you get a house that's in good shape -- he wants the best for you. And that's pretty rare to find. When I do find my next house, and the search begins again (ugh), you know who I will be calling. (You've been warned Brent).

Company Response

Ohhh Peg...you know me, my specialty is killing peoples dream homes and handling overprotective fathers! ... Ha! Hardly, your father was a true gentleman! Actually, that was a very nice home, it's just too bad it's not going to be for you. I would never tell you to buy or not to buy the home, my job is to tell you about the home. Unfortunately in this case mold was definitely the issue. That's too bad. In regards to the other home inspector, I don't know what to say, in fairness, I wasn't there a year ago to see what he/she was looking at. However, you're wise to get an inspection when buying a home. Thanks so much for the feedback Peg! As well, thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections! See you soon!
