Short version, WOW!! I was more than happy to hand over payment, HIRE Freehold… Keep reading for the long story. I had a very large landscape project to do, I needed to make the entire yard wheelchair accessible, this included the following. Rip out old wooden deck, ramp and replace with concreate patio and ramp, pave the entire backyard, pave side of the house, add in a new front walkway, poor pad for wheelchair lift, remove part of old paved sidewalk, remove old paved wheelchair pad. It was a lot and I was very worried due to the scope and cost. I had a few quotes done, with ideas ranging from paving stones for everything, stamped concreate, aggregate concrete, with various costs associated. I had used Freehold before about 8 years ago and they did a great job, to be honest I didn’t have them on my first round of quotes as I was also going to do some fence work and was looking at getting everything done at once, due to the price of wood skyrocketing I decided to focus on just the paving, as such I dug up an old email and gave them a call. Daniel came out, I showed him what I wanted to do, what I needed for access, my concerns with slope, not wanting it to look like a parking lot, along with other concerns that came up in the other quotes. He was great, very straight forward and made excellent suggestions. He wrote up a quote, I was able to make changes easily and get a very quick response. The project was huge and so was the quote, but I needed it done and based on the other quotes it was very reasonable Having used them before and reading some reviews of the other contractors, I picked FreeHold. Due to the size of the project I had to wait about 2 months for the work to start, it was going to take 3 days plus drying time. About 2 weeks before the start date Daniel came by to review the project, this was great as it was reassurance for the work that would be taking place, timelines and a better idea of the process. The magical day arrived, Daniel and the crew arrived just after 7am and started to do their thing, Dylan the owner also came by which was also reassuring, I was very nervous, I was able go over one last time with both Daniel and Dylan, made a few small changes and away they went. I was only able to stay in the house for the morning on the first day as both entrances would be removed. So many great things that I saw and the amount of work was huge, these are some of the highlights out of so many. 1) The Crew was professional, fast and cleared out a lot of yard, it was a sight to see 2) They kept the area and road clean, sweeping up as needed 3) I received updates and pictures to finalize some key areas for access, this was important due to the wheelchair and access. 4) I came by to watch the second day, as they were putting forms in, again a sight to see, at this point I was able to see things come together, again crew was professional and friendly. 5) They were careful as they poured, I watched them wipe down the doors and clean up splashes, as they went along. 6) They have a person come by and clean up after, removing the forms, sweeping all the poured area and more, fixing and cleaning anything they can see. I didn’t expect this at all, they also fixed some grading in the ally that connected to the pad, again above and beyond 7) Walk through with Dylan on the following Monday, I had a few areas of concern all addressed right away and had the general fixit person (Sorry I don’t recall his name) come by to take care of a few items. The best way to sum up this project is that I was very happy to hand over the payment, I feel I got more than what I paid for with the amount of work that was done along with items that are hard to apply a monitory value such as the service, professionalism and the little extras that I never expected, above and beyond everyday, and giving me something that I have been waiting 8 years for. Being able to finally use and access my whole property from my wheelchair, is emotional and a huge game changer for me!! They nailed the whole project. Danial, Dylan and the team are superstars, I can’t thank them enough… Oh ya they should be at the top of any list. Some before and after pics

I had Roof Right replace my roof and eavestrough. From the start it was easy, I contacted them, they got back in a timely manner, explained how the quote would work and I had a quote pretty quick. It was not the lowest quote but I felt it was the most honest and not that much more. Installation was great, I had two great installers for the roof, they kept me up to date and let me know of any issues, clean up was done at the end of each day which I appreciated. For the eavestrough, I also had two installers, I had a quick chat about what I wanted and a short time later it was done, it turned out way better than I thought it would. My roof and eaves look amazing, the only issue is I feel like I have to paint the house now to match how good it looks. All the installers are professional and really I barely knew they were around. If I ever have to roof again I will use Roof Right, simple easy and priced well.

I needed to add in 3 new plugs outside, I live in a fully developed house and was told by another electrician that the only way to do this without making a lot of holes inside and a lot of labour was to run conduit around the home. Real Canadian Electric came out and said no problem and no conduit run around the home, they just needed to add one access panel, they gave me a quick quote and got started right away. Everything was done quickly and to a high standard, even kept the doors shut to keep the AC in on a very hot day. They also gave me suggestions on other electrical issues or options and found some issues from a previous electrician. I have already booked them in for some more services to clean up the problems from the previous electrician, very reasonable rates and personable.

I found Freehold on homestars and sent them an email I got a response back quite quickly by phone, the interesting thing was my wife was trying to get hold of them on a friends recommendation but was not having as much luck so I was a little weary. After talking to Dylan and having him come out for a quote I was no longer weary, he was very professional and knowledgeable. I needed work done to my house to allow me to have wheelchair access and with my procrastination I was pushing it. Dylan was able to give me a good quote and timeline to get the work done. Pro's - Dylan kept in contact with me while the work was being done by his great team - showed up and had the work done when he said it would be done - final product looks great I cant wait until next year to get some more work done by him, even my wife is super impressed(that alone is amazing) Con's -My dog walked on the freshly poured pad in the back so its not as awesome looking as the side walk in the front now, but that has nothing to do with Dylan's team it my fault but the only con I can think of. If you can get Dylan's team out to do your work for you, you will not be disappointed.

So cool Brian! Thanks a lot for the review. When we did get in touch with each other there was no way our team was going to let you go though a winter in a new house without wheelchair access!

All the best and we look forward to completing more for you next season.

Sincerely,

I was looking for 4 quotes 2 from some bigger names in Calgary and two from smaller organizations. -First bigger named company never showed up for a scheduled quote. -Second bigger named company I was going to use as I had used them before -First smaller company I found thought my contractor, most expencive. -Williams HVAC found on homestars My original plan was to go with what I knew, Williams HVAC was my last quote and almost did not happen as they where not able to quote until a week after my last previous quote, they also did it when I was working and my wife was around so I could not ask any questions at the time, truly I just wanted to get another quote I never planned to use them. After the quote I still planned to use bigger named company but I did some research on the recommended equipment, warranty, etc and sent emails to both to gather more information. I changed my mind and went with Williams HVAC and here is why. - Cost right in the middle, very competitive - Warranty two years not one - Got very quick and good responses through email - Did not feel like I was getting taken for. Install was over two days Pro's - showed up on time - explained what was going to happen kept me informed - asked me what I wanted for install items(venting, air con placement) as they went I was never out of the loop - Cleaned up very well after both days - very informative - went the extra mile to make sure everything was up to code and it looked good - What I was quoted was what I paid. - had some thermostat issues, I chose to keep the one I had and not get a new one they came out the next day to look it over and help figure out the issue(issues was with the thermostat) Con's - Had to send two emails to get the permit number (not really an issue just needed to put down a con) I am happy I am a procrastinator and waited the extra 7 days for the quote from Williams HVAC and did my research. They have also offered to come out in the summer next year to double check the air conditioner as it was installed in cooler weather and tougher to set up and test at this time. Definitely worth having Chris come out and give a quote.
