I just want to apologize to all the guys who helped with the move because it took me so long to get this review up! I’m pretty sure I remember everyone, but I may get mixed up with who did what. If I do, apologies again. By the way Maria, keep these guys and give them a raise!! I wanted to write this review to help anyone else who is planning on hiring movers when buying a new house or for any other reason. Like you, my wife and I read reviews and did research before hiring anyone to take on the responsibility of moving our possessions. Step 1 We called several movers (who shall remain nameless) and they simply asked the size of our house and how many rooms. They then proceeded to give us a quote over the phone and tell us how many trucks and movers we would need. On the other hand, Maria from Viktoria set up a time to come over to our house and went through all three floors while taking notes. She then sat down and explained the finer details about the options and different costs associated with the move. Very professional! Note: We have a 4 bedroom house (about 2300 square feet) with every room filled with furniture and a finished basement also full of furniture, tools, freezer, etc. Even Maria and the movers thought we had a lot of stuff! She basically gave us three options: 1) Move the day before and make everything easier. 2) Move the day of close and hire one truck and 4 movers, probably a 12-14 hour job for the size of our house 3) Move the day of close and hire two trucks and 6 movers, 8-10 hour job. We chose option #3. Even though it cost more per hour, the movers were less tired and moved more quickly when moving into our new house. This was exactly what Maria explained to me during our meeting. She also said it would be closer to 10 hours unless I had everything packed and wrapped. We did our best, but couldn’t pack everything. The move itself took about 8.5 hours with ½ an hour of travel time and about a 1 hour wait for our new key for a total of 10 hours. I can’t say how impressed I was when Maria called it exactly! If you go with Viktoria, trust what she says. Step 2 – Moving Day Did I mention this was the first time I’ve ever used professional movers? 7:45 am, the movers show up 15 minutes early! Two 27-30 ft. trucks and six guys. We were pretty nervous! Did we get enough packed? Will they move quickly? After the first 5 minutes all our fears were alleviated! My wife looked at me and said, “These guys are awesome!” I wholeheartedly agreed. Mark D stayed on the truck and I spoke to Adam to get the ball rolling. Kris, Peter, Devon, and Will all laid walking pads throughout the house and proceed to start packing the truck. It was like watching an efficient machine. No one got in anyone’s way and Mark D did a great job stacking the boxes so nothing moved while driving. When the first truck was loaded, Peter took on the task of stacking boxes on the second truck, also done to perfection. Once the main floor was packed, they split up and went to different rooms on the second floor. As they cleared a room they put something in front of the door so as not to waste time checking the room again. Like I said, efficient. They certainly were not trying to pad the bill! Peter went about taking the beds apart and Dev called me over at one point to let me know there was some damage to our master bedroom dresser. He didn’t damage it, he just wanted to let me know it was there. Very professional. I was just floating around trying to help and not get in the way. We also had a sofa bed and we all know how heavy they are. I’m pretty sure Dev and Kris moved this down the stairs and right on to the truck. Not one scratch on the hardwood and not one dent or scratch on the walls! They then took out the wardrobe boxes (free) and packed up all of our clothes in about 10 minutes. Top floor was finished and they moved to the basement. Here I had a big freezer full of food. We left a section of our van specifically to put the food in. How foolish I was, Adam and Will went down and checked the freezer and said no problem. They picked it up and carried it around the tight corners, up the stairs and out the front door! Again, not a dent, scrape, or scratch on anything. Total move to fill two trucks, two vans, and a car – 4.5 hours. The guys then boarded the two trucks and stopped for take out on the way to the new house. They actually beat us there! We waited for another hour to get the key and they proceeded to unload. The unloading process went just as smoothly and took the remaining 3.5-4 hours. Dev and Adam moved the sofa bed upstairs and Adam and Kris moved the full freezer to the basement once again. I just want to say Mark D, Peter, Kris,Will, Dev, and Adam were all awesome! However, the freezer and sofa bed were two big standouts for me, because I moved both of them before. Not fun!! Step 3 – Unpacking It took us about a month, but we have everything unpacked. Not one broken glass or picture and not one mark or scratch on our expensive tables or my precious speakers! (LOL) To sum up: Go with Viktoria! Very professional and the guys seemed like old buddies of mine who just dropped in to help me move for the day! Viktoria may seem more expensive up front, but everything is included (wardrobes, packing tape, shrink wrap etc.) and there are no suprises. On a side note, a friend of mine used a different company and they quoted him a much lower price, but after the move they charged him $800 more than the original quote. Not so with Viktoria.
