Was directed to this company via the Sears Appliance call center to fix our Kenmore Dryer. We were given an appointment date and were told to expect a call the night before confirming that the appointment time window. We received this call and fully expected to have the technician show up the next day. The following day no technician - a call to Southland and we were told the earliest they could come was in about 5 days. A full 2 weeks after the initial call was place with Sears. The technician showed up late and worked on the dryer for about an hour replaced a part and claimed the problem was fixed. The next day we noticed a part of the dryer sitting on the floor that had not be put back together. But the dryer appeared to be working fine. A few days later and the error code showed up again. Unimpressed with our experience with Southland we called another company directly and had a tech out within 3 business days. He opened up the dryer and found a number of screws sitting on the bottom of the dryer that had not be put back by the Southland tech. Further, he tested the part that was deemed faulty by Southland and showed us that it was in fact fully operational and the problem was in fact related to another part. Not only did this tech fix the dryer but he resolved the mess left by Southland and for less money. Southland needs to seriously improve their response time and competency of their staff. The funny part is that the Southland tech asked for water and was offered a glass of water to which he gave my wife a disgusted look and suggested that perhaps he could get a bottle of water to take with him.

Called Stampede Door to get our garage door opener repaired - door would not close properly. Via 2 phone calls Mark provided a couple of tips on making adjustments to fix the problem. The second tip resolved problem. No charge from Stampede. While I would have had no problem paying for a service call I appreciate this company's apparent commitment to providing great customer service. I would certainly call / recommend Stampeded Door in the future.

Our furnace was not running properly so we called Service Experts as in our previous home we had used them to replace an old furnace. They were known as Central Aire at that time and we were quite satisfied with their product and service. For this repair the original tech dispatched came out with in about 6 hours of calling on a Sunday. He quickly diagnosed the problem as being a faulty safety switch. We were told that he or another tech would return tomorrow with the part and that we would be charged only for the original service call plus the part. Seemed fair and reasonable so we agreed and paid $103 for the service call. A second tech arrived the following afternoon and installed the part and told us that we had to pay for a second service call in addition to the part another $140. Even when the original tech confirmed what we were told the district service manager refused to adjust the bill to match the original quote, instead he knocked $20 off. So for about 30 minutes (15 minutes each day) of work on the part of Service Experts we were charged for 2 full hours of service time in addition to the cost of the part.

UPDATED December 8, 2014. Our original review of Great Dane was 10/10 very happy. Based on that we tried to use them again. First contacted them in early September 2014 for an estimate - took forever to get one. Finally got one in late October. Price was reasonable but getting any kind of firm commitment on when the work would be done was next to impossible. Finally at the end of November we had work dates of December 5 and 8. Morning of Dec 5 we get a text from Martin saying he had to look after his son who had the day off school. He "might" show up that afternoon to "scope the job". Morning of December 8 we get an email saying that he is too busy to come and could he come on December 17. Here is a though Martin, when you need to cancel at the last minute have the courtesy to make a PHONE CALL instead of hiding behind email and texts. If you like contractors who can only use a phone to email or text customers Martin is your guy. If you like contractors who place no value your time Martin is your guy. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Original review: ********************************************************************** Needed new circuits installed in the unfinished part of the basement. Martin came out and evaluated project and provided some suggestion to improve what we wanted. Work was completed within 2 weeks of the initial contact with Martin. Paul who did the work did an excellent job and left the area in a very clean condition. Would definitely recommend both Martin and Paul. We may have future projects upcoming and Great Dane will be our first called.
