My dream was to have a swing-open double patio doors in my great room and master bedroom in our brand new, custom build home. Since, like anyone else, we were watching our budget so we made a mistake of purchasing those at the Home Depot. Doors were installed and within couple of months we had water damage on our hardwood flooring. The doors had to go. I let go of my visions of white curtains blowing in the wind and chose a better solution: 6ft. wide, low-e sliders from Polar Bear Windows. The guys came with special heavy blankets to protect the flooring, everything was done in couple of hours, they swept and cleaned up after they were finished. I was so impressed! I would recommend this company to anyone.

When we build our home in 2005, we worked with some highly recommended companies. Windows First was one of them. I did my homework, I knew what I wanted, the size list was ready when I walked into their office. From that first moment I was talking about LOW E windows, I didn't want anything else. I never questioned the prices, the important issue was the Low E windows. The shipment came and was installed by my trades people. (Windows First supplies their product to contractors and not the public) Everything was perfect, windows were beautiful, of high quality. As with any other project, problems arise as you go, and there is a need to adjust. My patio doors purchased at Home Depot were not tight at all, which resulted in major water damage to my hardwood flooring. They had to go, and were replaced with sliders from Polar Bear Windows and Doors (great company btw). Winter came and we have noticed a heavy condensation on ALL the windows in the house. The slider doors on the other hand were dry. Surprised, I called Windows First to ask why I have ice and water on my LOW E windows. "You don't have LOW E windows..." was the answer. All this time I thought I did, that is what I ordered and what I paid for. It was hard to accept what he was saying, but since someone made a mistake, let's fix it. I told the owner, that since I didn't pay for the Low E (even though I thought I did...) I will pay the difference and they can just replace the inserts. I begged and pleaded, he made promises, just to go back on his word the next day. This went on and on, he hang up on me couple of times and finally he stopped taking my calls. My brand new custom home still has the regular windows, that I didn't order... In couple of years I will hire Polar Bear Windows to replace the inserts.

Late 2005 project, cladding a brand new house in vinyl siding. Company owner unreliable, not very friendly. Job took much longer than promised, siding still moves, exposing gaping holes where boards meet. The biggest issue was with the waterspouts. The house is 50ft. wide and yet, there is no water runoff anywhere in the front which creates a spring waterfall effect cascading right onto the front steps. That in turn freezes, creating an inch thick layer of ice on the steps, very dangerous... Contacted the company owner numerous times in the early spring following the installation, to ask for an additional water runoff, never received ANY response. Payment was expected and demanded on job completion. Needless to say, I can't wait to rip this stuff off my house and start new with someone reliable and skilled.
