When we build our home in 2005, we worked with some highly recommended companies. Windows First was one of them. I did my homework, I knew what I wanted, the size list was ready when I walked into their office. From that first moment I was talking about LOW E windows, I didn't want anything else. I never questioned the prices, the important issue was the Low E windows.
The shipment came and was installed by my trades people. (Windows First supplies their product to contractors and not the public)
Everything was perfect, windows were beautiful, of high quality. As with any other project, problems arise as you go, and there is a need to adjust. My patio doors purchased at Home Depot were not tight at all, which resulted in major water damage to my hardwood flooring. They had to go, and were replaced with sliders from Polar Bear Windows and Doors (great company btw). Winter came and we have noticed a heavy condensation on ALL the windows in the house. The slider doors on the other hand were dry. Surprised, I called Windows First to ask why I have ice and water on my LOW E windows. "You don't have LOW E windows..." was the answer.
All this time I thought I did, that is what I ordered and what I paid for. It was hard to accept what he was saying, but since someone made a mistake, let's fix it. I told the owner, that since I didn't pay for the Low E (even though I thought I did...) I will pay the difference and they can just replace the inserts.
I begged and pleaded, he made promises, just to go back on his word the next day. This went on and on, he hang up on me couple of times and finally he stopped taking my calls. My brand new custom home still has the regular windows, that I didn't order...
In couple of years I will hire Polar Bear Windows to replace the inserts.
