8/10

My wife and I are selling our property and upon a house inspection it was discovered there was an oil tank buried in our back yard. We originally called a number of companies and found only two that we felt comfortable hiring. In the end we hired Cerc because we saw good reviews on a number of websites (including here). The tank was out fairly quickly, but there was quite a bit of mess because they were working while it was raining, so that took them quite a bit of time to clean up. Overall good experience

Approximate cost of services:
$2,500.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Got a voicemail every time I called them. I suggest making sure they pick up rather than playing phone tag
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Apparently there is quite a bit of red tape with these kinds of jobs in some areas of Vancouver. It's mainly due to soil testing bylaws that could be quite stringent in one area, but nonexistent just across the street. I suggest talking to an environmental engineer to make sure the contractor is not under-quoting you, because if there are licenses you need to get, the cost is coming out of your own pocket
