Although the labour staff was very courteous and respectful while doing the work; the Owner is the complete opposite. He will underbid the job to then make you pay upwards of 20% or more for any variety of reasons. In my case the excuse was for hard digging, even after lending a physical hand one afternoon to help his crew, to then threaten me with a construction lean against my home if I didn’t pay it. Look for it in the contract they send out and make alterations!!! This man is rude, condescending and highly unorganized. Do not give him a deposit as he will not order the materials right away. This resulted in a 3 month project delay after providing an initial deposit the year before. He also charged the full amount against my credit card the day they finished knowing I was out of town with no review of the finish product. For this guy it’s take your money and run off to the next project. So do your homework! A contractor can only charge you an additional maximum of 10% of the total cost and you have a right to make payment 28 days upon invoice. The differential for the added charges I was seeking reimbursement on amounted to just over $200, which they chose to ignore my calls and emails on in order to reach a fair settlement. In addition to this, my other neighbors who were involved in the project are currently in a legal dispute with Fence Solutions for reasons greater than my own. Aside from all this, his crew did do a good job overall but look elsewhere to someone with a solid reputation, years of proven experience, and obviously better mannerisms.

Read your contract, hard digging is subject to charges. Also, your contract stipulated that payment is due upon completion. You are incorrect in regards to the 10% of the total cost. As for the legal dispute with your neighbours you should ask them directly.
