I contacted Ash on short notice and he made arrangements to come the next day (Saturday) since he knew we had been making due without hot water for over a week. The install went by without a hitch. Raj and Lovepreet (Ash's crew) were very friendly and patient with me as I tried to walk through some other plumbing issues in the house. Absolutely no concerns with hiring them again.

I came across the new company that goes by a similar name (which I apparently can't use according to the review policy at Homestars... it still contains "Fence & Deck" in it) and had received a very competitive quote from them. My wife and I were headed in one of two directions, either get our deck redone in a very nice wood (Ipe) if we could get it done for $10K... or if not, to get our deck done for as little as possible in Pressure Treated. As we ended up on the latter, this put Steve’s company in our final list. However, after some due diligence, I came across the information presented in the below reviews detailing some very negative experiences with his previous company that eventually went Bankrupt. I was pretty much ready to write Steve off entirely but figured I should at least give him a chance to explain himself, especially since I had taken up a lot of his time with some back-and-forth on the quote (and he always seemed to respond). When I asked him about it, he had no problem speaking and tackling the issue head on. He didn’t exactly accept full responsibility for what happened but he did explain the mechanics and assured me he wasn’t in the same situation again. That helped me at least get some idea of what happened (as there’s always two sides to a story) but not enough to feel comfortable to go ahead with the work as he did ask for a 10% deposit and another 30% once the work began (essentially, I was putting 40% of the contract down as a deposit). I asked him if he’d consider doing the work piece-meal. Basically, I offered that I’d pay for the demolition once it was done and materials once they were delivered (likely on two separate days). Since I knew my deck wasn’t a big job, I already knew that should he put up any resistance, it would tip me off that something was up since he would either be very untrusting or running the company with next to no working capital. Steve thought it was a reasonable approach and agreed with my plan. My deck wasn't a complicated job so only one person was assigned to the job. He took about a week and was pleasant enough to deal with. There were some changes he recommended (which he showed me in-person) to the foundation of the deck and he clearly knew what he was doing. He was also trying to be conscious that I didn't want to spend a lot of money so he was trying to solve problems the most cost-effective way possible. If anything, I would've actually gone a little further (which I'm sure he would've been happy to do) but in the moment I left it at the minimum. The work got done without any surprises. I've had the deck now for close to 6 months now and I don't have any complaints, especially when you consider the competitiveness of the quote. I know it can be concerning given the past history, but I would strongly suggest giving Steve a chance (the quote is free after all) and worst-case scenario, approach any work on a piece-meal basis.

Very pleased with this company. We were looking at adding insulation to our attic as it was quite low when we purchased the house (~6 inches). We initially discovered Comfort Insulation through a visit to Costco (they had one of those promotional stands on the way out) and looked online and heard both good and bad about Costco contractors / partnerships. We moved on to get a few more quotes and were going to pay about the same or more for alternative companies we were interested in. We figured we'd take the chance as Costco would at least back their work in case something went wrong. We're very glad we did. A sales representative came by to inspect the attic and then the work was done by two other individuals (Ashley and Dave). Ashley and Dave were both very courteous and clearly customer centric in their approach. They did exactly what they said they would do and Ashley even helped answer some of the questions I had about the work done. As a bonus, the upgrade to our attic insulation actually made a difference in our home which made it seem like money well spent to boot. Highly recommended for anyone considering to use their services.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Boost their Homestars presence, it would've made our decision that much easier if they encouraged reviews to get a solid base on Homestars for people who want to verify their reputation.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
At least get a quote from them. Doesn't hurt.

I had purchased a resale home and wanted to have my home theater wiring properly hidden as well as getting wiring done for CAT6 throughout the house. I tried to find a few people to do the job and decided to go with Swinger Solutions. I met both Ken Schwenger and Ken Nieuwhof and can only speak positively of them, their knowledge, and their work effort. The job I was looking for them to do was somewhat unconventional due to my specific needs and current equipment, but both were more than willing to offer suggestions while also respecting any decision I took. It was great to know that they weren't there to just "get the job done" but to also give advice and helpful considerations. They were personally invested into my project and wanted me to be as happy I could be in the end. Not only was their communication top-notch (which I find hard to find today with the people actually carrying out the work), but the quality of their work was fantastic. To wire the entire house, they made a total of 4 small holes (2 upstairs, 1 on the main floor, and 1 in the basement). This was great since the clean up / patching / painting was minimal and you cannot tell any holes were cut in the walls. This will obviously differ from house to house, but I was still very impressed with how skilled and tactical they were in tackling the job to be as unintrusive as possible. All in all, I highly recommend giving them a call for any project you may be considering. I plan to do a proper home theater in the basement one day and they are at the top of my list. Note: I had purchased all of my supplies from Monoprice in anticipation that I would be charged a lot by whoever I hired once we moved into the house. In the end, it turned out that I could have paid less had I gotten them directly from Ken. To avoid my mistake, I suggest you get a quote from Ken before you go out and buy anything.
