Protectron installed a new alarm in our home when we moved in. Although they couldn't guarantee the old components left from the former owner, they were kind enough to wire them in to our new system. They made recommendations for lots of additional equipment (extra key pad, glass breaking sensors, etc) but in the end, they did what I wanted for the price we agreed. We pay monthly for monitoring and the service is good.

I have had Abell pest control out 2 years in a row to our home to spray for sow bugs. It seems that come spring, these little critters come scurrying into my basement. Although these bugs are harmless, Abell pest control always take my discomfort seriously and comes out within a day or two to spray. They are also very conscious of our family's health and both times recomended that I spend the night away from home with our children. First time I was pregnant, second time my son was only a few months. They are clean, professional and they guarantee their work. Highly recommend them although, I hope to never see them again ;)

We hired Alf to do our roof 2 years ago. His price was pretty much in the middle of the 5 companies we had out. But, the difference with Alf, and ultimately one of the reasons we chose him, is he was the only one that actually went ON the roof and looked around. The work was great, the roof still looks fantastic, the company was real easy to deal with and the only thing that was so/so is that 2 years later, I am still finding roofing nails in my flower bed! Although, I think it would have been pretty impossible for them to get ALL of them- so, full marks for Al!

I have a mixed review for Mr. Rooter. We called Mr Rooter because I had rather stupidly, managed to drop the lid to my mouthwash into the toilet, while it was flushing.... this was to a costco sized mouthwash so, it was a BIG lid. The first technician that came out gave me an estimate of $465. He said he would need to auger the toilet and since the lid was so big he didn't beleive he could get it out without detaching the toilet. (it was like 200 for the auger and 265 for the toilet detach and reset). I was shocked but he said this was the only way. I left him to work. 15 minutes later (maybe even less) he called me into the bathroom and said there was no clog. Flushed 2 pieces of toilet paper down and said there was no clog. He used a hand auger, never felt anything but figured he may have "shook something loose" and all fixed. $225. For 15 minutes. Well... After he left we went to use the toilet, I put a larger wad of paper down the toilet thinking I wanted to be SURE it was working before actually "using" it. It wasn't working. Water rises high, slowly drains and paper left behind. Office staff was awesome and said someone would be by in 1-2 hours. It was after 830 when Kirby came and he said it was clogged (shocker) and he actually tried for about 30 minutes to get to the lid and nothing. He then said that I could have the toilet detached/reset for 265. BUT, he then stated that my toilet was 25 years old and I could replace it with just a basic toilet (comperable to what I had but new) for about $350. Looking back that really ticks me off because I think if the price of a new toilet (installed and taking the old one) is less than fixing a 25 year old toilet, that should be the FIRST option presented. I would have never agreed to the original work of $465 to salvave a toilet that clearly wasn't worth salvaging, had I known I could have a new one for LESS HOWEVER, despite the lack of information from the first gentleman, Kirby exceeded all of my expectation. He was willing to replace my toilet and work until after midnight doing so. Althernatively, we worked out a great price with a discount on the second toilet (decided to do both) as well as a thourough check with a camera into the main line (free of charge) to ensure that it was clear. He installed the toilets the next day, he was METICULOUS in his work area (booties over shoes, tools on top of clean towels he brought, etc), and clearly WANTED to do a good job for us. Checked the toilet several times (flushing) to make sure that there was no water leaking and then after all that he did a free plumbing check of our entire home and provided recomendations. So. Mixed review. Kirby was great, and had I dealt with him in the beginning, this may have been a 10 star experience. BUT since I wound up spending an extra $250 to unclog what was deemed an old, tired, busted toilet that even without the clog was finished, I am a little annoyed. I think Mr Rooter does a great job of providing an estimate for services before commencing work. BUT I would have been a much happier customer if they provided me with ALL of my options from the beginning instead of soaking my $225, then another $265 and then saying that I could have had a brand new toilet for LESS than that.

I used handyman connection to have the seal on my toilet replaced and the hot water tap replaced in the laundry room. Handyman connection always does and estimate before work is completed which is great, we were happy with the price. The plumber provided suggestions for additional work and we signed up for that as well. He did a good job on the toilet but when he torched the tap off in the laundry room, he burnt the drywall and never told me, which I felt he should have. It is a utility room so it isn't a HUGE issue but he still should have mentioned it. In addition to that, on his way out, he said by the way, your cold water tap needs to be replaced to and that is going to cost another $300 because I will have to come out again. That frustrated me because he should have told me when we reviewed the work order that it needed to be done and I would have had it done at the same time, rather than pay their minimum charge twice.
