Our roof on one of our properties was 12 years old and failing badly (25 or 30 year shingles - warranty issues). We had called out Jim on a small job on our home previously on the recommendation of another contractor we used and were happy with his work and price so had him quote for this project and decided to go with him. We knew the roof was spongy but on the first day of work, after removing some of the shingles, Jim called as there was considerable rotten plywood (we ended up replacing about 90% of the wood). WE went down and inspected and you could see just how bad it was so we gave our go ahead to replace what needed done. Yes it added considerable to the price of the job which was over and above the price quoted above but I have the peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly. This is not a review on the previous company but I cannot believe that some of the wood didn't need replaced then (as it was a 30+ year old home then and I was charged for some but there was no signs of it having been changed) but I think it is easier, and definitely quicker for the roofer to just cover up with new shingles and move on with to another job without replacing. Jim was willing to take the time to do the job properly

Last year my mom had her roof done by Baron Roofing. My mom is in her 80's and lives on her own. Baron was to replace any wood that needed to be replaced with plywood (her original was tongue and groove) In his day, my dad would have been watching the job from start to finish but now that mom is on her own and it was in writing that the necessary wood would be replaced with plywood, she was not vigilante on watching what was going on. This year, a fire occurred in the home and the ceilings in the home has all been ripped down. Looking up you can see that even though her contract states plywood and she was charged for plywood sheets, Baron cheapened out and used only chipboard to replace any wood that needed replacing. Beware if you use them and watch what they are doing. Do you really get what they state on their contract - I wonder now if she even got the 30 year shingles as was contracted - have they cheapened out on this also? I would not use them.

Most products 'Mitch' sells are seconds or end of the roll but he is upfront, will show you the flaws and tell you whether it will show. Our F/R carpet had quite a flaw we were not worried about because of where the flaw was but once laid it could not be seen anyway as general stretching took care of it. The rest of the flooring was not a second or mill end but he ordered it in for me and saved me basically the amount of taxes. We were very happy with the end product

Thank goodness for the Home Hardware on Hartzel Road - they know what my husband needs even when he doesn't. Not only are the older staff knowledgable but the young staff are great too. Their clearance area is my favourite spot in the store but for any hardware products we try to go there as the store is well-staffed, friendly and extremely helpful. If you have been thinking of painting - I love their Beauti-Tone paint.

One of our income properties need to have the bathroom tub replaced. It is a small bathroom and to replace the tub would mean knocking out a wall to get the new tub in then rebuilding. We called Bath Fitter and they came out. The price was in the neighbourhood of 22 - 2500 so definitely more expensive but they measured, ordered (took about two weeks) and came and installed in a few hours. We had no cleanup to do after they left. This tub has now been in the home about 3 1/2 years. The tenants love it. You have to watch the cleansers you use on it as you cannot use abrasive products - think green people - baking soda cleans everything!

Had a tree stump in our yard that we wanted removed. Received flyer in with other coupons for Pineridge and gave them a call. They were working in the area and came over within the hour and removed the stump. It was approx a 10 - 15 year old maple and approx 6 inches in diameter - $20.00 to remove - what a bargain! Done within 15 minutes including clean up!

Whenever I needed lighting for our house or income properties I go to Don's. Great company with staff that are exceptional. My daughters now have their own homes and that is where they also go for all their lighting needs - Prices are comparable to going to Home Depot but both the advise and knowledge are far superior. They have been in business for years - I remember my parents going there
