Our 14 year old AC was struggling towards the end of the summer and we had issues last winter with the furnace and decided it was time to replace them. We met with several companies, Boris was very approachable, thorough, answered all of our questions and his quote was competitive. He wasn't pushy and was honest about the rebates we would qualify for. Some time went by (life got busy on our end) and we made it (somehow) to the cooler weather and started up the furnace only to find it was making the same strange noises as last year. We called Boris to schedule the install and he was able to accommodate in a reasonable amount of time. The day of the install went smooth, the guys were super nice, put down drop cloths, answered any questions we had and were finished in the time they said they would be. For about a week or so, we noticed periodic flickering of the eleven 50W halogen pot lights in our kids playroom after being turned on. The flickering in itself seemed odd, but then one night the dimmer switch itself began to loudly hiss and buzz once turned on. We immediately turned the light off and knew we needed someone to come and take a look at it right away since this was a well-used kid’s play area. Not being totally comfortable with electrical problems, we weren’t taking any chances with children’s safety being involved. We found CLI by reading reviews on Homestars and gave them a call around 9am one day during the holidays. We received a call back within a half hour and they were able to have someone come out that same day. Adam from CLI arrived right on time per the window time given to us, and right off the bat he was both courteous and energetic. He investigated the problematic dimmer switch and was able to conclude that the switch itself was beginning to fail. He made sure that there were no shorts or wiring issues and checked the actual draw from the pot lights to ensure the dimmer was rated appropriately for the number of lights. He replaced the dimmer switch with a new one (he had a few to choose from in the truck) and put everything back together. All along the way, Adam was happy to answer my many questions (I’m a curious person). Adam is a super polite, patient and an enthusiastic gentleman. The charges to come out and troubleshoot were explained beforehand, discussing over the phone we knew the range of replacement dimmer switch costs (assuming that was the issue) and the limited inclusion of labour in the base amount. Final pricing was in line with what was discussed. While this job may be considered by some to be “easy” or on the smaller scale, to us it was way too important to take the problem lightly with young kids using that room daily. We are relieved that this issue is now resolved – thanks CLI!

With a couple of young kids we decided to have our basement finished to give us some much needed additional space. We had contacted 8 different contractors in total and found P&P Renovations to be knowledgeable, kind and provided an accurate quote that was well detailed and fairly priced. We had a great on-site crew that did their best as to not interfere with our hectic schedules - with two kids at times I am sure we made more noise than them! They were clean, plastic was placed over the basement doorway, drop sheets were put down every day and things were left in a reasonably tidy manner. Everyone was kind and didn't mind answering any questions we had. We are very happy and pleased with the finished product; it is exactly how we had envisioned it to turn out.
