I was impressed by Ian from his first visit to start putting together a bid for us. His eye for detail and natural mastery of potentially complex issues were immediately evident.
We bought a 1908-built downtown house that really needed some love. It had never seen extensive renovations or repairs and some serious problems were threatening drainage issues and water damage; that much was evident from our original (independent) inspection. The house also needed a thorough going over as plaster and floorboards were within an 1/8" of their lives. The kitchen and only bathroom were disgusting disasters.
Ian took everything in hand quickly and professionally and came up with a plan that met our needs and budget. His wasn't the lowest bid we got, but it was definitely the most thorough, and he stuck to it, only adding what we asked him to as the project moved along.
Jarek and the crew do very quick and careful work. I was very impressed by their attention to detail, and how they wouldn't hesitate to fix any small faults I found along the way. The subcontractors Ian brought in were no less impressive. Everyone was a real pleasure to work with and did excellent jobs throughout the house.
We now have all new plumbing, spray-foam insulation, reinforced joints, an improved electrical system, new roofing, a new basement walkout with sump pump, a backflow valve, new floors and drywall, new bannisters, a completely rebuilt kitchen and bathroom, and a new powder room. My wife and I are thrilled with the results and have to restrain our enthusiasm when showing the house to family and friends, lest we lose all sense of humility.
I can't recommend Ian and everyone at Willistead highly enough. I feel very fortunate not to have any first hand experience with contractor horror stories. Quite the contrary: the whole process has gone exceedingly well. Do yourself a favour and give them a call.
