Considered a well or upgrading the lake draw system to a year -around system. Decided to add a high tech filter and UV system for the house lines as well as an RO unit for the kitchen drinking water. The people at The Pump Shop sold and installed the systems efficiently and without issue. Have also used them for an additional irrigation system since which went fairly well. Also purchased some summer deck furniture from Wade and he was knowledgable and helpful. If you need plumbing supplies, pumps, filters and/or just about anything water related in the Haliburton area The Pump Shop is the place to go.

Stripping a log home and refinishing. I've tried a variety of products and with Brent's help at Tim-br Mart I've found some good products and materials. Example, I wanted to make new doorway thresholds out of oak. I didn't see suitable boards in the store but when I mentioned it to Brent he took me out to a storage building and we found the perfect board which they then ripped for me at no cost. Great service. Similar story on carpets and plumbing supplies. Helpful friendly staff.

Had Ian Myers brush out and inspect 2 insert fireplaces. In my case he and his assistant did all the work from inside. They were on time, cleaned the chimneys well and insured that ash stayed in the firebox and vacuum cleaner only. At $250. I thought a bit pricey but perhaps I'm out of touch with current rates or it was the distance travelled. I'd use Ian again.

I used Murry Miscio from Enviro Services multiple times for excavating water lines, preparing a pad for parking, tree removal and building site prep and landscaping. I've worked around heavy equipment guys for years and Murry has "the touch". He thinks ahead, saves time and works efficiently. Will use him again and again.

Installed a York Heat Pump to assist an oil furnace and add AC. Well installed and has cut oil costs significantly as expected with a smaller increase in hydro. Staff friendly, service minded, knowledgable and in it for the long term.

Home security system for doors, windows, motion, fire and temperature. Monitored for all issues and OPP are called out when needed. Battery life could be an issue beyond a year with replacement cost being about $100. Must have land phone line connected so at the cottage you have to add that cost.

Purchased liner, pump, filter, electrical, plants and landscaping rock for our river and pond project. The pond was 6 ft deep and about 12x16 so we needed a large liner - no problem. Didn't have to weld seams or worry about holes. The pump works around the clock and we clean the filter about once a week which provides great composting material. Stays clean and with treatment fairly clear. Probably the best pond place around Parksville and QB.

This is a must see place if you are landscaping a new home or need a lot of stock. Twice annually (spring and Fall) Ken-Dor have a huge sale at their farm. People arrive early with trailers and pickups and claim the best stocks fast. They have great staff but it is really busy. Expect to line up for 20-30 minutes but it's fun. Good stock at really good prices during these sales. The Hwy 19A store is closed now but the farm sale goes on. Well worth planning for you can save hundreds of dollars ($).

Put a water feature pond in our front yard 2 summers ago. Bought a large piece of 45 ml liner, pump, filter and hoses from Gary. The liner price was better than anywhere around and the pump about average. We also bought lots of water plants and some fish, and food. We've returned a number of times and like the people and the location. Sometimes you have to be patient they can get busy.

New place halfway between Bancroft and Minden so Wilberforce was worth trying out. The Tim-Br Mart had everything I needed in the way of wood and hardware (some I was reusing so the hardware part was pretty easy). The location was very convenient and the guys were great. Not sure about summer pricing with cottagers, there seems to be a premium to be paid around here. If your building project is substantial you might want to price in Barrie or Peterborough and then negotiate locally.

Bought a new cottage last year and wanted to change the locks and add dead bolts. Looked around for Wiser Lock dealer and found one right in Haliburton. Prices were a little higher than I had paid previously but they had what I needed so no trip the Barrie was required. Store guys were friendly and helpful.

Myers Chimney are located in Haliburton County just outside of Haliburton. They do installations, cleaning, hearth renovations and WETT inspections. We have a cleaning and inspection carried out when wE bought and they were fine. Cleaned up and issued certificates promptly.

Murray Miscio is a local guy with lots of experience on his backhoe. You can see his skill and experience as he thinks ahead two steps and keeps the job going well. If you like a friendly guy who wants yo to be satisfied and gets the job done you'll like Murray. Hourly rates are reasonable.

Needed a new PeeVee and some new chains for my Stihl saw. They had a small Stihl PeeVee but the handle was too short for my purposes. However, the chains were $3 less then I paid five years ago elsewhere. Moreover, they have a great deal where if you buy 2 chains the second is half price! So 2 chains were approx. $45. Sandy was polite and friendly.

Almost new home with a heat pump Pope and Sons installed and warrantied. When it went they eventually replaced it but fought with our builder about the warranty and required that we pay them and make a claim. The service tech was great the owner was rude and we won't use them again.

Needed some heavy timber for landscaping and Windsor Plywood came through. Multiple lengths of 5 and 6 inch by 8 inches. The lengths varied between 10 and 16 ft. Used what I needed and they were fine about my returning the unused. In French creek they also have specialty woods from all over the world. Some real treasures for musical instruments, frames, boxes and very exclusive trims.

Purchased a variety of paint supplies, garage floor finish and porch paint/stucco product at Dolly's. The staff were great with information of products, and colours. Their paint "membership" card which gets you a free gallon after 6 purchases also helps.

Came to house on time for estimate, provided boxes for packing, explained the process and insurance. On moving day two energetic guys showed up on time, hustled throughout the move and probably saved us money.

Hired SaniTech to clean our carpets after movers left tire racks and grease marks. Showed up on time, were polite efficient and got everywhere clean. Would definitely use them again even at the slightly higher cost. They do it right.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! CK Moving are now building a reputation as careless, inconsiderate, incompetent movers. Not just my opinion see Yelp site and search CK Moving, or BBB, or Yellowpages. They consistently break, dent, smash and lose items. Ignore claims, are rude and ignorant. Lots of photos now posted on the web including Flickr Movers page and on YELP. You really don't want to listen to their song and dance justifying themselves. If you do use - well you were warned.
