I hate giving bad reviews but I really had no choice with the GE Profile PNE25NSLKSS; it is by far the worst kitchen appliance I have ever owned. The lowest score I can give is one star (which is really 0) so I am giving one added star for my salesperson, who I think actually tried to help me. Other than that, this fridge was a nightmare from day 1 and buying from Canadian Appliance Source was an even bigger mistake. This fridge was D.O.B. (Defective Out of Box), I had to make a service call to GE the day after it arrived, when I first plugged it in. It immediately made a ridiculously loud rattling noise, which has to be heard to be believed. I could not leave it plugged in as it would wake the house (no exaggeration, seriously). I first called CAS and they did nothing for me other than to say call GE service and if I wanted to return the fridge it would cost me a 25% restocking fee, despite the fact that it was clearly defective. One of the shelves also arrived bent (not that big a deal, it happens). The GE repairman they sent the next day (which was nice) said that the noise it was making was the ice maker and this was NORMAL FOR THIS MODEL and the only fix was to physically disconnect its power supply from the main unit, which is what we did. So now I have a fridge that I paid extra for an advanced ice maker and filter system that can't be used unless you like being woken up at night every 45 minutes. The shelf was also replaced, which came in the mail about 2 weeks later. The next problem we experienced was that the fridge would go into what I call power cooling mode (the same as when it first starts cooling after you first plug it in). This is a normal sound, just noticeably louder than normal operation. Unplugging it briefly fixed this. Now it is freezing my liquids near the back of the fridge despite being set to 37. Overall, this fridge is a nightmare and clearly defective, I regret buying it, especially from CAS. AVOID GE FRIDGES AND CAS!!!

Approximate cost of services:
$2,200.00

Company Response

Thank you for your review. We are a retail store so all our appliances are sold as-is when shipped from the manufacturer hence the reason for the 1-year manufacturer's warranty. I am pleased to hear that a technician was sent out quickly to address your concerns. There isn't a 25% restocking fee charged for an appliance with functional issues instead it's addressed under the manufacturer's warranty. I am sorry you have not been satisfied with the performance of the appliance. We aren't able to control how the unit is built to function but we would be more than happy to share your feedback with GE as it relates to your experience using it.
