Like most people my wife and were apprentice about hiring the “right” contractor. Getting along with your contractor is of prime importance. We had one in for a estimate- he was aggressive and opinionated- he never did give us a written proposal. A lady across had her kitchen done and it was beautiful so we asked for the contractors name, which is John Lopez of Hiar Homes. Turned out I knew him from years ago when was he a golf instructor- and a good one at that too. The reno was completely my wife’s idea and I was against it for years but agreed it was time after 28 years. She made all the arrangements re picking out cupboards, backsplash, lights sink, etc etc. John works closely with a company called Design Alley which turned out very well. My wife and the designer/owner,Ronnie , hit it off immediately. After a number of designs and quotes from John we signed a contract. The staggered payment system he uses is very specific and detailed. I should note we started this pre Covid19 and when the 14 day isolation and mask edicts etc came in John was on top of the regulations immediately. My wife has a compromised immune system plus we are both in our late seventies ,the high risk age. After six weeks of living out of a upstairs bedroom with a microwave and toaster oven ,with the fridge in the living room, it was finally over. Moving everything back was really fun! Along the way John and crew were attentive and courteous plus we had water and power every night. To say we are pleased is an understatement. It is a joy o turn on the lights and see what looks like a kitchen from a home decor magazine. My wife and would recommend Hiar Homes and John to anyone.
