Owner does not stand behind defective install and only seeks to upsell. Avoid at all cost.
I contracted OPC for a "Spray Foam Roof System" on a 5,000 sq ft flat roof, as per the following contract:
Scope of Work: Install a Spray Foam Roof System
Pressure wash to clean modified bitumen roof area
Pressure wash all EPDM
Remove all gravel and wash tar and gravel area
All flashings to be removed and reinstalled on completion
Spray 1 1/2 inches {+or-} of closed cell roofing foam
Apply 60 mills of Ureacoat Polyurea for UV protection
Reinstall flashings and inspect
Install backing and new flashing 193 feet @ $18.00 per foot bent on site
I believe their product may have been supplied by Nukote Global. I still think the product may be fine if properly applied, but I am not certain. I have positive experiences with most contractors.
The overall experience with OPC was painful, and the outcome underwhelming. After selling me on all the benefits and playing hard to get, the owner Barry (his full name is on their website, I am not allowed to post it here as per Homestar rules) was barely present, except to upsell me on a garage floor, which he did actively. I feel bad for his team, as they all seemed nice guys.
Only 9 months later, a 20ft long 5 inch gap has developed between the coat and the roof border (see pics). That is a big issue for a system that is supposed to "last decades" if well maintained. I included a pic of their brochure, showing "35 years is the average sprayfoam roof life".
In addition to that problem:
There are 3 major pooling areas that I had clearly highlighted to the owner, yet he did not do anything about them. The coating has detached from the roof underneath in many parts, allowing condensation in.
I had to reinstall the sidings under the flashings myself. See the pics - it was like that in 6 spots around the building.
The warranty is non-existent. They can get you an invoice immediately but say they need 30 days to send you the warranty, which was not in the contract to start with - a clear sign I should have read. They find excuses for issues that come up, and seek to do the minimum if they cannot get out of it completely.
The owner went silent after I ended up having to mention lawyers, using that as an excuse not to stand behind his work. At that point, I lost it on him, I have to say. I should have seen a pattern sooner in his interactions as a sleazy snake-oil salesman only interested in making a buck. Buyer beware.
If you had problems with this company, please leave a review, as I am hiring a lawyer to go after them, and you can help or even join the lawsuit if you want.
ps. I had to add them to Homestars even though they say they have been in the business since 1988. It seems they prefer to avoid reviews. Smart choice.
