L Daken Contracting

I hired Daken Contracting to completely renovated my small 3pc bath. I was provided a quote and was told that the start date would be April 11th, 2023 and the end date would be April 28th with a few days into the following week for any deficiencies and to clean up loose ends.

The project started off well and the tile that was installed looked really nice, but I quickly realized that the project wouldnt be completed when I was told it would be. I am a very patient and understanding person. I know that being a one-man show can be challenging. There were days where the Contractor would show up at 9:30, 10 or even 11am and then stay only for 4 or 5 hours, instead of putting in a whole day in order to get the job done and meet the completion deadline. Yet, I was patient.

The Contractor was to come in on May 17th and finish everything needed in order to complete the project. On the 16th in the evening, I was told by the Contractors wife that he was ill and couldnt make it in. She told me she would contact me when he was feeling better and reschedule. Fair enough.like air said, I am patient and understanding. A week later she contacted me to schedule him in for June 7th.

On June 6th, I contacted the company through email to confirm that they were still coming to which I received a reply that the contractor overbooked himself and unfortunately has a new client to tend to!!

I have been patiently waiting for 8 weeks at this point and the contractor is starting a new project with someone else before finish up with the ongoing one he has??

I reached out about my frustrations, which I was well within my rights to do, and the contractor has now ghosted me. My texts wont go through, my emails wont go through, I contacted him through FB messenger and he has denied anymore contact with me.

I am a single Mom and I really trusted him with making sure my bathroom was done properly and I wasnt going to be screwed over. I am so heartbroken over the way that I have been treated.

There are outstanding deficiencies that need to be completed, as well as money that I paid to him for extra supplies for my exhaust fan to be wired ($477.69) and he has disappeared with my money.

I am a really good person as I dont deserve this. Unfortunately, I will have to file complaints with the BBB and Consumer Affairs, and possibly the police with respect to the items purchased and never given to me or monies returned, which is what I requested.

I was really looking forward to the finished product so that I could recommend him to everyone I knew, but that ship has long since sailed.

Took on my unfinished basement and completed it for me he finished 2 days earlier than expected did amazing work and I'll hire him for my next renovation, very professional

Great company to deal with. Everything was done right and on time. Would use for future projects.

We hired Lewis to do an additional renovation for us in our laundry room. We had just finished an much larger renovation with another contact.
We switched because the first contractor was difficult to work with and we had to press than to correct or redo many items.
Lewis was breath of fresh air listened to what we wanted and did extreme work, showed as promised always cleaned up the site daily.
We will hire him again for our next project

We moved to Brantford and bought a 1 floor bungalow with a basement that was torn out for some reason. After sometime I came to realize that not using this space was a complete waste. The basement was dark and depressing and I didn't think there was anyway this could Ever end up being my favorite room in the entire house! Found L Daken contracting from a friend and I must say Lewis is a man of his word and stayed the course until the entire project was 100% completed. Everyday he would review what was completed and the his plan of what was to be completed on the current day (I have never had a contractor do this in 35+ years...excellent communications). Lewis made many educated suggestions not guess work that made the finish and fit excellent and not just acceptable.
Always friendly and on time, he was always made sure our questions were answered and always would ask if we needed anything complete prior to calling it a day.
I have nothing but high recommendation for Lewis and his quality of work....something I will also mention is he always pretty much daily advised what the financial situation was so as not to get a surprise that advanced funds for building supply were not completely depleted which is just a great example of solid communications with his client.
I highly recommend L Daken contracting and hope that other clients have the low stress and excellent customer service and communication (can't stress this enough! just excellent!) experience we had.

Hired Lew to do multiple different renos around the house. Did great work! Definitely will use him again.

Lewis did an amazing job! We couldnt be happier with the final product. He was honest and hard working and showed great attention to detail. He left the workspace clean each night. He answered our questions and sought our feedback often. Amazing work!
