For the project, we had Nick put a 25 x 20 addition on the back of our side split as well as reinsulating and putting new siding on the existing house. Nick left the project unfinished after we asked him to correct the mistakes he allowed under his watch as the general contractor all the while proclaiming luxury using the finest craftsman. He also lost it on my partner several times but the last was for saying we wouldnt be paying the next day after him demanding immediate payment when he had been asked throughout the project for several days notice se we could obtain money fromThe bank. This is when we were already several hundred dollars in. We are now using our own tradespeople to tie up the loose ends properly including shower glass which we had already paid Nick partially for. In my overall opinion he is shifty, untrustworthy, ill tempered and happy cutting corners. I would not recommend him to anyone. Do yourself a favour and find someone more experienced, trustworthy and reliable.
Issues:
- A cold pour was needed to complete a portion of the foundation walls. He blamed the supplier for short changing him but I question if he just didnt irresponsibly miscalculate the quantity needed
- the shower has a chipped marble ledge when its never been used, a wavy rolling floor and when they didnt have or use enough grout on the floor initially in a 18 x 18 patch in the middle, they added more grout on top that is grey instead of beige to which he said was just from Them mixing a new batch and essentially that it happens
- theres a spot where the new addition meets the existing house where they did the trim poorly and I can stick four fingers thru the opening and touch a stud
- the drywall people didnt sand thoroughly but the painter was sloppy on top of that with ceiling lines and drips on the trim and floor
- the engineered wood floor has a handful of 1/4 gaps around the baseboards where the wood was cut too short which he then just filled in with brown caulking
- his crew left cigarette butts and nails all around the yard
- he went a couple months past the original planned completion time, and way over his pre build provided project cost
