Alex the repair man arrived right on time after calling ahead.
He was very friendly, polite and found the problem quickly.
He had the replacement part in his van and while he repaired the fireplace he also cleaned it, painted the fake walls to cover up the signs of usage and decorated the ambers and pebbles.
It works and looks like a brand new gas fireplace. Thank you Alex.
