Sam and his crew at Amista Homes were fantastic to work with. Sam was enthusiastic about the project and is a true visionary when it comes to reconfiguring space and design to be both functional and aesthetically beautiful. We engaged in a kitchen renovation and a full gut job of our second floor while living in the basement with our two young children. Sam was diligent in working with a structural engineer and licensed professionals to get the job done safely, to code, and in a timely manner. His direct crew, designer, and sub-contractors were all a pleasure to work with. They were respectful, tidy and accommodating. We did go over our planned budget, however these were choices we made or unforeseen issues and options were communicated with us as they emerged through the demolition and re-building process. Overall, Sam demonstrated passion, pride and integrity in his management of the project, which truly reflects in the finished results. We would definitely work with Amista Homes again and would recommend this company to others who are looking to make their spaces brighter, more functional and beautiful.

We hired Amista Homes to do a complete main floor renovation in our bungalow.

Sam's plumber and electrician are inferior at best. The electrician is extremely messy and leaves wires and sawdust everywhere he works. He does not clean up after himself. He puts switches on crooked and did not put dimmers where required. We asked him to remove a switch for an electric awning that was removed and he also took out the switch to our backyard light. There is no way to turn on the light on the back deck.

The plumber is absolutely incompetent. Where to begin...he burned our brand new bathroom floor and kitchen floor with his plumbers glue. They scraped the glue off the kitchen floor, so now the finish of our new vinyl flooring is gone. The bathroom burns are a constant reminder of inferior workmanship.
We had a leak in our primary bathroom. The plumber had to make three trips back to our house in order to finally fix it. Each time he came, he said it was fixed, but it continued to leak.

Recently, we noticed a leak in our unfinished basement from the upstairs primary bathroom plumbing. We had a local plumber come to give us a second opinion because we had no confidence in Sam's plumber. The new plumber was appalled at the poor quality of plumbing materials used. Sam's plumber used SharkBite fittings which have an o-ring that can leak. Even more shocking was a joist that was completely cut out for a pipe. We have now hired a contractor to sister the joist and relocate the pipe. The new plumber said this would never pass inspection!

Sam is ultimately responsible for his trades and should have caught the disgraceful workmanship and fixed it. We have hired the new plumber to fix the leak and replace all SharkBite fittings by soldering them, the way it should have been done in the first place.

When faced with many issues on our job, Sam argued and did not take responsibility for his employees' poor workmanship.

Sam sometimes spent over budget, installed the work and only after told us it was an extra. He did not respect our budget and often spent over and above what we could afford. The problem was, he only told us once things were installed and completed and then expected additional payment.

Sam did work for us previously, but this time the workmanship was inferior and now we have to pay extra money to have it fixed!

Very disappointed!

Amista Homes were excellent renovators. They completed the project on time and on schedule. They use high quality products and are genuinely concerned about the quality of work they provide.

This was my first experience with renovation and i couldnt be happier with how everything came through, and it wouldnt have been possible without Sams expertise and skills! I bought a 30+ year old 700sq 1 bedroom condo that hadnt been retouched since it was built back in the days..! The place was so outdated, dingy, musty, out of style, and justold and gross. My wish was to turn it into a palace like place! I called over 50 reno contractors in the city. And of all, Amista Homes stood out the most by far! While every other contractor replied to my inquiry over emails or by leaving a voice message on my phone, Sam was the only person to send me a message over WhatsApp. As a millennial i appreciated this so much, and made the conversation 1000 times easier! He also sent me videos and pictures of his previous work and i loved the style of work he did. Also, while others gave me an estimate of the cost without looking at my room, Sam was one of the few that said he needed to assess the room first before accurately estimating the cost, which i think is a much more professional approach. Amista Homes gets another high point for offering a personal interior designer at no added cost! I had the joy of working with a highly skilled home interior designer, Rhonda, who took me shopping around the city for floor tiles, marble countertops, backsplash, sinks, toilets, and so much more! She understood exactly the style I was going for and used her experience to guide me in making the right decisions. Every step of the way, Sam and Rhonda were extremely helpful, heavily invested in making every little wish of mine come true, and absolutely went above and beyond! As with any renovation, we encountered numerous challenges along the way mainly related to building structural limitations and supply issue, yet each and every time, Sam made the impossible possible. Working with Sam and Rhonda, you could just TELL and FEEL they wanted the best outcome for your dream renovation! Extremely hard working, humble, dedicated, caring, and professional! The end result of my room was more than what I could ever wish for! It was exactly what I wanted and MORE! I honestly couldnt be happier living in this new home that I now call my Palace! Its simply gorgeous, and full of unique personalized touches that wouldnt have been possible with another reno company. Amista Homes truly poured 100% of their skills and effort, guiding me through decisions, and always keeping me in the loop with their impeccable communication! If a good company is 10/10, Amista Homes is 1000/10! Honestly couldnt recommend enough! Thank you for literally making my impossible dreams come true!

We are so delighted with the work San and his team completed on our house. We completely gutted the main floor, took a wall down for an open-concept space, redid some of the upstairs, including a brand new bathroom. As well as adding a new powder room in the basement.
They turned an old, worn-down house into something that could be in a catalogue. The custom touches, the farmhouse accents and overall look are stunning.
The Amista crew is extremely hard-working and provided a lot of creativity to the project. San brought many great ideas to enhance our floor plans, especially in the kitchen and the bathroom. He was always looking for ways to maximize the space.
Downstairs, we were just looking for a small powder room in the basement to give us a second bathroom the finished product is way, way beyond the expectations we had for it at projects beginning.
Our new fireplace, mantle and beam, along with a brand-new island have brought new life to what was a stagnant, out-of-date main floor.
We were so impressed with how much work they put into the project, and the care in making sure its the way we wanted it. And they finished right on time.
Our new bathroom upstairs feels like it has twice as much space as before. And a shower that San put a lot of time into making perfect.
Everyone was polite and considerate, and very helpful in answering numerous questions.
The project went way smoother than we could have imagined.
