Problems with the tile job:
Rob forgot to cut a hole in the tile for the floor air return, and tiled over the hole. When he returned to fix it, he cut incorrectly leaving obvious cuts in the tile that were exposed beyond the vent cover. See photo. He said he would come back and put the vent cover back in a way that covered the cuts rather than replace the tile. I had to insist that he replace the tile. Luckily I had an extra tile left over.
He said he checked the subfloor and made sure it was screwed down properly before laying the tiles. The floor is now creaking under the tiles in front of the toilet. It never creaked before the tile job and now I'll have to remove those tiles to figure out why it's now creaking before the tiles crack.
He did not use spacers between the tiles, and did not level the tiles so the floor is uneven in height from tile to tile so our feet catch on the edges, and visually they do not have equal spacing between them.
The grouting was insufficient..not enough grout used which made the uneven tiling more obvious. When Rob came back to fix the floor register tile, I asked him to fix the grout. He added more grout, which is now crumbling away.
It is likely I'll have to have the job redone.
