Contractor from Artisan Carpentry & Renovations inc, 1401 Bloor St W, provided quote for deck job in writing on July 24. On July 28 I received an email that he purchased 4 skids of red cedar and to hold it a $1000 deposit was required. I e-transferred the money on July 29. Contractor confirmed install date of Aug 17. On Sunday Aug 16 we removed all furniture, BBQ, etc. from deck in preparation for install. No one called, emailed or showed up. A revised date of Aug 31 was confirmed. On Sept. 3 Contractor advised that Home Depot "double sold" the inventory. On Sept. 7 I received text "guaranteed before 2 weeks job will be completed". On Sept. 9 he showed up at my house and advised the deck would have to be completely re-done and would cost more than quoted. I requested a revised estimate which I received with a cost increase of $1,925 and promising "Please allow us to move forward with this. Let this email be proof as if there is any additional cost from this attached quote we (artisan carpentry and renovations inc) will take on that at no additional cost to you. I want to earn your trust and give you a beautiful deck." On Sept. 14 he confirmed in another email that job will be starting on "21st morning. Kevin and I will be there for the entire rebuild." On Sept. 21 no one showed up. On Tue Sept 22 a huge bin was dropped on my driveway, blocking my vehicle in the garage. No correspondence prior to drop-off was received despite my call and email. On Sept. 23 I called the bin company, explaining that the bin was blocking my garage with vehicle inside and asking them to move it. They were able to contact the contractor who told them the job was cancelled. Let me be clear, HE CANCELLED through a bin company and later on in email and text. Based on my HONEST and TRUE review on TrustedPros, he refuses to refund my $1000 deposit. I am at this time chasing him for my money.
