Sometimes a person can make you believe that the world will be OK after all. One such person is Mike.
I found that some pieces of aluminum siding had fallen down from a job done 13 years ago (by someone currently highly rated on Homestars). I needed to fix that, and started by asking through my personal network, with no luck other than someone who came and removed another loose piece for safety. Homestars was my next approach but only marginally helpful. I made more than a dozen requests yielding what ranged from not even the courtesy of a response to clearly attempted exploitation. In between were some who asked for photos and then didnt communicate again, some who said to let them know if I wanted to replace everything with vinyl, some who said it looked too hard, some who said it wasnt what they did (fair enough); and then there was Mike. His response was For sure we can help you with that. Give me a few days to find a time. They did come, and in two hours had the repair done no fuss, no mess, just got it done. He asked for very little compensation, all things considered. I wasnt in search of perfection or guarantees, just a straight-forward repair to get my house back intact for now, saving the planet from excess waste. Thank you, Mike.
