Tile Repairs

At first the owner of this company seems like a genuine person and his reviews are quite good, however after my experiences with him, I feel I need to warn others who are considering his work.
We had a minor leak in our shower that needed some repairing. It was clear the leak was from the sides of the shower. When he was over I pointed out that a minor part of our grout was discoloured, one of those things that happens over time, and he told me he would clean it up and put another layer of grout and make it look 'much better'.
What he did was essentially put a layer of grout over our entire shower leaving it looking much worse than how it was. Plus the new grout started peeling and chipping pretty much from the first day. I have included pictures of the before and the after.

We contacted him and to his credit he came back (on a Sunday) to fix the problem. When he came back, he tried to fix it but explained he couldn't take the grout out without ruining our tiles. So, he told us he will clean up the tiles. He left our house with a thick white coat of some liquid that he explained that we need to wait a day and then clean up the coating (once it is dry) and buy a sealer and put it on ourselves. I wasn't pleased by this because I assumed when you pay someone for a job, they will do it all aspects of the job. I wish this was the end of the story...but...when we tried to clean up the coating the next day - the tiles were even worse!

What was even more upsetting was when my wife asked him on the Sunday why he didn't put the sealer on in the first place. He became hostile referring to my wife as "sweetheart" and began to leave.

An argument between us ensued. At one point he made an empty promise to refund our money...and a comment about going to get the sealer for us...it was quite clear neither of these things were going to happen and he was just looking to leave. Because of his aggressive demeanor and with the way he spoke to my wife, also my daughters were both home, I decided it was best to cut our losses and let him go.

I think the owner didn't intentionally try to take our money without completing the job and I do appreciate that he came back on a Sunday to repair his work however he clearly did not do the job correctly and rather than admitting his mistakes and making sure he fixed the problem, he left...taking zero responsibility for what he did. As well, it is clear to us that he tries to use intimidation as a means to get what he wants.

Loren was prompt and courteous, and gave a very reasonable quote. He did what he said he would, and more. There was one minor issue with the caulking, but he came back quickly and corrected it. The shower looks great. I'd recommend him without hesitation.

Loren did a great job and we are very happy with the end result. Loren went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with his work prior to leaving.

Mr Lloyd removed 10 year old grout and caulking from our ensuite bathroom. The work done was impeccable, our bathroom looks like new! He was professional and finished a bit earlier than projected. Job well done.
