Davis Fences completed about 245 ft of fence including 2 gates. The issue I have is that our neighbour called them back 2 years later to continue their side. Davis Fences built my neighbour an 8 ft fence which goes against by-law in Hamilton. When they built my fence and I asked that the side fence line up in height with the back fence in height I was told it was over 6.5 ft and over code. There was a height discrepancy and we felt that raising the side fence a few inches would make it visually better. I was always told No. However, my neighbour was allowed an 8 ft fence which Davis Fences built for them. It seems like they have different rules for different people. I was very disappointed that Davis Fences would do that and that they wouldnt follow by-law in a residential area. An 8 ft fence between neighbours is just so tall. I understand that people want privacy but 8 ft is too high. I question why a fence company would go against by-law by 1.5 ft. There is a reason for by-laws but it seems that rules do not apply to them. Davis Fences should be contacted by the City of Hamilton for their part.
