Our designer hired Sal and his team for our kitchen and home renovation. He went on holidays during our reno and hired a guy (his roommate) that was not professional and made huge errors installing our vinyl floors, amongst other problems. He promised all will go smoothly and in good hands and he would fix any problems. It's been 8 months and he won't repair the problems or even respond to us or the designer who employed him.
Problems:
*double /trippled the underlay in many areas causing uneven floor surface so boards snapped and popped up.
*brute force attaching boards causing the to break and pop up. We counted over 40 ends ruined. Started off at $1300.00 fix to now having to replace entire floor.
*removed wall in our dining room but didn't use proper floor levelling compound so new vinyle flooring shifted. When foot pressure was applied to the floor in that area, boards popped up and seams broke then continued to break surrounding boards within weeks/months.
*blamed manufacturer for problems. We had reps from the manufacturer inspect and reassure the boards are not defective, the install was not done according to instructions and in the report explained their findings and concluded the contractor ruined the floor.
*we purchased Dremel power tool for Sal's staff to work on the floor because his help showed unprepared.
*took our money and didn't finish the job. Baseboards were missing, stair area left unfinished, electrical plates missing and not properly secured to the wall, floor unsafe as sharp edges exposed in many areas. He knew I ran a home daycare and the edges from the boards could cut someone's foot. In an email, Sals advice was to tape or cover the floor because he's not accountable or responsible if someone hurts themselves.
*we later found out we paid a premium for cheap floor and unprofessional service. 8 months later and the floor is now in a state where it all needs to be replaced. Off to small claims with a lot of proof these contractors have taken our money and ran.
Save some hassle and do not use this service.
