We moved into our current house 9 months ago. The appliances we have came with the house. The GE dryer was working until last evening when I took some clothes out mid-dry cycle...then the dryer would not start again. When I pressed the start button, there was a buz but the drum no longer turned.
I went on Homestars and found Certified Appliance Repair with great reviews and called them, they said they could send a repair person over by 5 PM (he actually called and offered to come earlier which I accepted). His name was Garik and he met me at home. He was very pleasant and courteous,
I watched as he verified the issue quickly and took the Dryer apart. He was very careful not to damage it or any of the walls or cupboards in the laundy /bathroom where they are located. He found that the dryer was very dirty inside with lint, sand and found a few toys stuck inside (the previous owners of the house had small boys). Garik thoroughly cleaned and test the dryer and once he got it all back together, it worked fine. I was happy with the results as the dirt was caked inside the dryer and out the vent hose so it took him a while to get it all cleaned and back together. Garik says the rest of the dryer should be fine going forward. It has a lot of complexity so I would not have wanted to try and attempt the repair myself. Garik cleaned up and left the room as he found it (except the dryer was working again). I would definitely recommend Garik and Certified Appliance Repair.
