Bow Window Installation

The initial experience wasn't good, as the job turned out to be complicated than the company expected, but Oleh from Gold Leaf followed up after my complaint, came three times to the house and resolved the issue. It is obvious that the company cares about its reputation dearly, which is rare given the contractors are usually in a position of power with high demand for these services. The experience also made me a big believer in the effectiveness of the Homestars platform/reviews in ensuring that the customers' interests are protected.

Bow Window Installation

Terrible experience. I am afraid I have to agree with another reviewer that these guys run out of a truck and cant even deliver the things they committed in writing and on their invoice. This is not a real company but an installer, a sales guy and a coordinator working together. Their office address is also not real (look them up on google earth). I spent $3400 and now have to get another contractor to repair the mess and damages left on the inside. If you need to install a generic factory window on the cheap they can probably do it. Anything else (painting, repair etc.) to complete the job is beyond their skills. I needed an old bow window replaced in a heritage house. Oleh at Gold Leaf was first to respond to my query on Homestars. Mike, the sales guy showed up on time and did a great pitch. I told him I don't care about the price, just preserve the look of the existing window. He said they will put in a matching window, aluminum caping all around on the outside and repair the rotten sill on the inside. Mike said he will look for someone to also repair and paint the outside frame. This was all put in writing. Then the nightmare started. Vlad showed up to take measurements a few days later and said repair was not in the work order from Mike and I should talk to Mike. I call Mike. He says, $600 additional to repair and replace the interior one-piece frame. I agreed and Vlad left. After that Mike stopped responding to my emails and messages. Oleh called to confirm the installation date in a few days. I told him I want to back out. He said don't worry, they will do the job as agreed. Vlad shows up on the installation date. They rip out a beautiful single piece window frame, which is over 50 years old and replace it with cheap MDF pieces glued together (see attached photo). They also damaged the inside wall and did not do any repair (see photo attached). Although the invoice said they will install aluminum caping, Vlad didn't install any. Oleh calls me later to settle outstanding payment which I paid promptly. He asked me to send him my issues in writing and he will resolve everything. I did so. Even sent him photos. Its been a weak and he has not responded to my email. I am also filing a complaint with BBB as they didn't even do what they said in the contract in writing e.g. aluminum caping and still charged the full amount.
