This company who goes by the name of Blackies Contracting and Home Renovations is the WORSE company I had ever came across ! My mothers original fence was damaged during the wind storm at the beginning of this summer and as a result, based on the quotes we obtained, this guy Tony was the cheapest quote at the time. He wanted 60% down as a down payment which I didnt agree to so we negotiated approx 40% down and he wanted only CASH by etransfer. He refused cheque or any formal receipt so I had him write his quote and what money was given to him on his business card. Once that was done on June 6th, did not see him again despite harassing him to find out when he will do the job but he just made excuses or say that he will be there by end of the week and never showed up. It got to the point that I had to threaten him that I will contact CRA and BBB and if that didn't work , then I would retain a lawyer. He finally showed up after 2+ months to just put the posts up and then he disappeared again! At this point of time, the neighbor refused to pay his balance so now his excuse was that he will no longer build e fence and will not return the deposit . He stated that I could not do anything because it was a cash deal . These are all texts that were exchanged which he stated all this. By this time which was now at the beginning of September I did retain a lawyer to hold this guy Tony accountable for his actions. I had so many texts that proved that their was a contract as well as the business card showing the cash deal where the total minus deposit and what would be owing once fence is done. A Demand letter was emailed to him by my lawyer as well as texted to him that if he did not have my half of fence done by Sept 11, then he will be sued for damages and compensation for emotional stress he put my elderly mother through as well as myself, her daughter. It was at that point when he built had built half of a semi private fence however he did not put any post caps and he stated that he would put an extra latch on gate . I did not pay him the balance and still he would state that he would do the work but would not show up. It was almost a week later and still was demanding for his balance of payment. Then he realized I was serious and finally showed up and the caps and the extra latch on. It was at that point is when I paid him the balance.

It was a nightmare and the most stressful experience ever that my mother and myself ever went through.!!

I STRESS WITH EVERYONE TO NEVER HIRE Tony from Blackies Contracting and Renovations(Gate and Fence).

Contractor has yet to finish fence, 2 months after being paid I am still chasing them to get the entire fence job I paid for finished.
Find someone else to do your job!!

This so called contracter took our money and did our fence and finished as a semi private when the deal was for full privacy. He took an extra $300 dollars from us and said he was going to come back and finish the job. It’s more than a month and still has not shown up. Please stay away from this person and pass this to anyone who reads this.
