During the Ice storm in April of 2018, we experienced an ice dam on our roof. Water was coming into our house from the roof, damaging rooms on all levels of our two storey house. We had a few inches of water collected in the basement.
I called Shield Restoration because we needed help. Within 2 hours, Dave arrived up to assess the situation. He carefully went through each room that had shown water damage. And he also showed me rooms where the damage hadn’t appeared yet – but would subsequently. He devised an initial plan that would start address the damage resulting from the water coming into our home. A few hours after that, a crew from shield arrived and started the drying/clean-up phase.
The crew arrived the next day to remove the water soaked floors, and damaged drywall.
At all times, the employees were kind, respectful and clean. Because the extent of the damage we suffered, we needed significant drying/dehumidifying. Shield employees always put drop cloths down in the house, as well as wearing boot covers.
Shield also coordinated/performed the restoration. We need new floors in our basement, plus drywall repair/installation in all of our rooms, as well as painting. Bryan did most of the restoration work and the quality of his work was outstanding. As well, he was very kind and trustworthy (we left him the keys to our house to allow him to work while we were away). At no time did we feel uneasy having him in our house while we were home or not home.
During the entire process we had to deal with our Insurance provider. Dave, having worked in the industry before, was very helpful in guiding us through the claims process – this was our first home insurance claim.
I was always able to get in touch with Dave or Steve when we had questions regarding the clean-up, or restoration. This was very re-assuring, since it was a very stressful time for my family.
We were/are totally satisfied with our dealings with Shield. I hope never have another flood / or similar event. But if we do, Shield will be the first call we make.

We were impressed with Shield Restoration's speed of response and quality of workmanship. All of the staff we dealt with were professional, courteous, conscientious, and careful in executing their tasks. We were kept fully informed on the recovery process and timetable. Because of the nature of the property (condo) we unfortunately also had to contend with another restoration company brought in by others. The other company's workmanship was abysmal and communication about work plans and timetable were totally absent. The contrast with Shield's effort could not have been more dramatic.

In a cold winters Saturday night in the midst of a deep freeze " a burst pipe" -

Arrived in the wee hours of the morning - before the light of day - assessed and addressed the problem , took care of the immediate clean up preventing further damage .
Working for the homeowner they carefully inspected, recommended and assisted in the insurance and restoration process.

This Winter, as a result of the rough weather, we came home one day to leaks in our master bathroom and in one of our bedrooms. We were shocked to see the bubbling of water build up in our ceilings and walls as well as water all over our floors from where the ceiling had cracked. The leaks were traced to our roof. We were referred to Steve at Shield Restoration Services by a friend and Steve and his team were absolutely amazing in such an upsetting situation for us. They responded promptly and were at our house reviewing the situation quite quickly. They provided expert, in-depth reviews of the damage and recommended a course of action to dry out all of the water. Once we agreed to a course of action, they had machines set up to dry out our rooms within 1.5 hours. They also came by regularly to check the status of the drying. They were always quick to respond to our calls and helped alleviate some of the stress we were experiencing. We always had the feeling that we were in good hands and could trust them. Best of all, the guys were absolutely great with my 3.5 year old son. He of course wanted "to help" and ran to get his toy tools and drill when they arrived. They totally humoured him and gave him small jobs to do and he LOVED it! I highly recommend Shield Restoration Services and wouldn't hesitate for a second to call them up again!

Our basement had water damage from a frozen pipe. Bathroom and the carpet surrounding the basement was all soaking wet. Shield was very quick to respond in sending a crew to fix the problem.

During the re-modelling phase, they were very organized and finished the job on time.

I was very pleased with the timely updates given by the manager and the crew on the job were very professional and respectful.

Steve and his team were available at a moment’s notice when trouble with a pipe resulted in flood damage on both the upper and lower levels of my house. The problem was diagnosed and a plan of action was implemented immediately in order to mitigate damage to the affected areas. Steve’s team worked diligently until 2am in an effort to save our hardwood floors; something my insurance company very much appreciated. Not even my sleeping toddler in the next room was aware of their presence. Steve was available from start to finish, and any hour of the day. He walked my claims adjusted through the emergency services work performed and pushed hard to ensure all losses and rebuild work were covered in the claim. He was the advocate we needed. Steve’s rebuild team was competent and professional and ensured the work contracted was completed in a timely manner; my expectations were exceeded.

I can’t thank Steve and the Shield team enough for all they did for us during this challenging time and I would highly recommend them.
