I watched a special that Mike Holmes presented 10-15 years ago, and he was subcontracting a septic system installation. The contractor was installing a Radon system and explained the dangers of not only doing it right but not having one installed for the homeowner’s future health. This has been on my mind for years and I finally purchased an Airthings with Bluetooth so I could get real-time readings of the Radon in my basement. My Initial reading was 350 Bq/m3 which was alarming since Canadian standards are 200 Bq/m3 and the UK is 100 Bq/m3. I took the readings for 3 months and started to reach out to different Radon mitigation companies and happened upon Mr. Radon. When I initially called Sherry, she was wealth of information that I needed to make an informed decision. I was completely reliant on Sherry's expertise. I asked for a quote for the service and was surprised and relieved at what was included. I wanted an appointment ASAP and Sherry kept in contact with me to get me in the schedule quickly. The tech's showed up at my home earlier than scheduled, good start. They were both very friendly and excited to get my readings at a safe level. They were worried because I had 2 levels in my concrete pad and would possibly need 2 systems, but they received good pressure readings from opposite ends of my basement. They were very professional and conscientious about keeping my home clean, tarp down the stairs, vacuum everything clean before leaving. Gave me all the information I needed to know about the system, warranty information and what to look for on the pressure gauge. They were in my home for about 3 hours. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Immediately the readings started to decline. The next morning, I had reading at 76 Bq/m3, the day after it was 53 Bq/m3 and its gotten as low as 17 Bq/m3. I feel safe in my home again, all my workout equipment is in the basement, and I've been working out for years down there without giving this a second thought. They left 2 test kits to test the air quality for a 4-day period, sent them back and my readings were 36 Bq/m3. I like other homeowners go day by day not knowing that this could be a hazard, and unless I had seen the program with Mike Holmes I never would have known about the dangers of Radon. This should be standard practice when investigating or purchasing a home. Knowing the current readings and having a mitigation system in place to keep your family safe. I would highly recommend Mr. Radon to have your system put in place. Sherry was wonderful and understanding of my concerns and the urgency I wanted this issue taken care of. If you need to reach out to me for more information about my experience, please contact Sherry at Mr. Radon and I'd be more than happy to answer any question you might have. Dave R
