We lived and still live a horror story with this company; we hired them to do our swimming pool based on the builder’s recommendation. We wish we had checked references but we blindly (and mistakenly) trusted the builder who built our house. They spent the entire summer (4 months) to build a swimming pool that was promised in 6 weeks. They kept claiming bogus changes for things already included in the contract. We kept paying hoping to finish the job and start enjoying the pool before summer is over. We end up paying 125% of the contract value and the pool is not even near completion. Then they started threatening us if we don’t pay more they’ll abandon the job, we obviously refused any further payments and they end up leaving the site in complete disarray. It looked more like a war zone after they left. Moreover, we received a letter from their lawyer with 25 invoices attached for $70,000 all marked “Requested & agreed to by owners”, something that we have never requested nor agreed to, things that don’t even belong to our property. Moreover, they registered a construction lien against the property using those bogus invoices. We checked references after it was too late just to realize that they have done the same exact thing with other customers in the past. To top it all, the City of Mississauga inspected the pool and found many bylaw and building code contraventions. The city requested the complete demolition of the work Aquapools Ltd. has done and we were given 4 weeks ultimatum to do so! The case is now before the superior court hoping that the justice system will put an end to our continuous suffering!
