Main aim is to fleece you as much as possible
Called in on a Saturday as the control board on my air handler had burnt. From the beginning, his main task seemed to be to point out the fact that all fees had to be paid upfront and the fact that diagnostic fees are not absorbed in any later work done - which is the opposite of the norm. In any case, he also quoted the fee for the board saying that it may be anywhere between $350-650 - I offered to buy the part directly so any markups and the $65 delivery fee could be dropped but he said outright that he didnt want to lose the money hes making on the part itself, rather than help the customer by minimising costs. I wasnt asking for a discount but rather saying I could get the actual part and would pay his labour charges without any issues whatsoever, but no. As I said, the main aim was to fleece and make as much as possible. Never heard of a control board replacement costing upwards of $1,000 all in, but thats where it was landing with all of his fees and insane markups on the part itself. Cancelled the service with the diagnostic fee down the drain, but Id rather not deal with someone like this. Would not recommend.
