I was originally looking for a masonry contractor who had experience and the ability to widen up the rough-in opening of my existing exterior doors to accommodate 2-36 single doors as separate entrances to the units, and also enlarge 2 rough-in opening of basement windows. I had several contractors come in who did not have the experience to perform the work (despite them indicating they have through their advertising), until Joe and Julian (owners of JJR Construction) came in to assess the work required and provide an estimate. My first impression was very positive, we discussed challenges and obstacles of performing the work. And after discussing the requirements Julian and Joe were very comfortable of taking on the project. Lucky for me their other project got delayed so they were able to start the very next day. On starting the work I could tell right away their craftsmanship was top notch. They were very careful at removing the bricks to install a new longer lintels, they were taking all the safety precautions required. They were able to widen up the doors as I wanted and increase the size of the windows, and their work passed building inspection with the City inspector. After discussing with them the condition of the remainder of the house, I hired them to perform tuck pointing on my entire semi-detached house, including disassembly and removal of my chimney. They skills and techniques of colour matching cement to my existing lime cement from the 1950 was spot on, again speaking to their ability and skill. Looking at the house you cannot tell where the joints have been repaired as the colour blend in perfectly. This was exactly what I was looking for. Being a real-estate investor, I have hired them to perform tuck-pointing my other 2 properties and will continue to use them in the future for all my masonry works. What I love most about them is their communications skills. They always kept me in the loop and kept updated me on their progress. They are very friendly, courteous and professional individuals. Me giving them additional work speaks very highly of my satisfaction with their work. I should add, and i haven't mentioned this in my review, their pricing is very reasonable. I am a general contractor and work with many trades on daily basis. Their prices are very fair, to a point it's not even necessary to shop around. These days it's very hard to find a good, reputable, courteous and well priced contractor, and these guys are all of the above!
