Painting Professionals has great reviews on both Google and Homestars which is one of the reasons we chose them to paint our kitchen cabinets, but that is not indicative of the experience we had with them.
I waited over a week to write my review, trying to give the cabinets time to cure, and to give them the benefit of the doubt, because they are very nice people, but unfortunately, the quality of the work is severely lacking, and as each day goes by I see more issues.
Firstly, my cabinets do not look as good as the sample they originally showed me. David said they had switched products to a melamine that dries quicker, but it is obviously not as good as the one they used on the sample.
They did not sand at all, and used (in my opinion) the incorrect primer for the job. I sold paint on a retail and commercial level for many years, and know that the surface should be sanded first and the correct primer used. Since David is the professional, I kept my concerns to myself, assuming he knew what he was doing, and that this new paint would cure hard and stick properly without this prep.
However, with the slightest ding the paint comes off. My kitchen is used heavily, it is not just for show, and I don’t have the time or the inclination to be touching up my cabinets multiple times a week.
Not only that, there’s white melamine paint on the walls, floor, inside the drawers (I’ve had to buy liners to hide it), on my countertop, and when they came back to touch up areas they missed they even got drops on my brand new table. When they came back to paint the areas they missed (the kick plates), they missed a whole section again. I won’t be calling them back to fix it.
Yes, they are very nice people, and I don’t like to leave poor reviews, but my experience has been very unsatisfactory, I actually didn’t get into everything that I was unhappy with, but this was a definite waste of money, especially since we will now be calling in a different company to try to fix all the issues we have, and will most likely end up paying double for this job.
