Not satsfied with service

In response to Valerie’s response: Valerie, when you helped install the miracle fit it was obviously still light in my room and I commented on such. We needed to duct tape a cotton pad to the corner to make sure it didn’t rip the blind, the blind still gapped from the miracle fit (to which your solution was that I put a basket on the floor to keep the blind in place). see enclosed photo of the blind with the miracle fit. There is still a lot of light which I expressed at the time you helped install it. I was clearly not happy but I was not going to argue with you because there was no other solution that you were offering. I wanted a blind with a channel option to add the darkness if needed. You assured me I could order it. Please check your reply in which you made no apology. My next email let you know I was disappointed with your response. I debated about posting a negative review however, I rely on reviews when I select companies. I needed to share my experience because it was negative. I spent $2000 for a blind and was told I could add the channel and you had not made sure that I could. You made no apology and then still charged me for a less than optimal solution and then put on this website that I was very pleased. That is simply not true. Hopefully you will take this feedback and so that another customer does not have the same experience as I did.

I purchased a black out roller shade from Valerie and was assured that after it was installed, if I did not find the room dark enough, I could purchase side channels to cover the gap on the side. Valerie did not attend the installation nor did she come to ensure it was satisfactory. After being installed I did express that I would like to order the side channel because the room was still quite bright. Valerie responded to my email with no apology and indicated that the channel that she has in mind is actually not compatible with my blind and she actually had not checked compatibility before letting me know the channel was an option. She then recommended I install drapes. Once o responded back with my disappointment that she had not confirmed the side channel ahead of time and now I have limited options, she offered me another alternative which is not as optimal as a side channel. She wanted to charge me the full price and I had to press her before she agreed to half price. I paid close to $2000 for a roller shade that still leaves the room quite bright and had to settle on an option that doesn’t address my concern and sill had to pay for that option. I still find the room quite bright! Valerie was not reliable because she did not check the product options prior to my order. When she realized her error she made no apology or offer to remedy the situation until I pressed her, and even then I still had to pay her for the less preferred alternative. I do not recommend this company.

Company Response

Hi Wendy,

I appreciate all constructive feedback from my clients but I do find this review to be unfair and left out some key information.

It is important to mention that I spend quite a bit of time with my clients during our initial meeting to discuss options best suited for their needs. I’m not always able to attend every installation, but I trust my installer’s expertise and I always follow up with a call or email.

During our first meeting, you shared that just a few weeks prior you dealt with another blinds company for the same job and had shades installed that you were unsatisfied with due to the light gap. I saw that as a red flag as that company left you with a free custom blind and had refunded you in full. Regardless of that, I still wanted to help and we discussed options for the job.

I communicated that the best option for light control (due to your light sensitivity) was an outside mount or to cover the gap with drapes, something you were already considering but chose not to do. The final option was a side channel. Because your window sizing was too large and beyond spec of the original blind manufacturer, I could only offer another brand for the side channel should you want it later on. After the blind was installed you said you wanted more light control, and that is when I realized I made an error and learned that the original option could not work. I did apologize personally over the phone - which unfortunately, you seem to not to remember. Please understand that I can make mistakes but I did my best and found you an alternative solution with a different side light piece.

I had couriered samples of two alternative options for closing the light gap. We agreed that Miracle Fit was acceptable and I came by to personally help you install it. The most optimal way to install it was in front of the blind, but you wanted it in the back as you preferred the look. In the end you were actually very satisfied with the look and the function. Your shade looked great, and the new piece solved the light gap problem. I wish you would have communicated your continued concern before I had left because I was under the clear impression that you were very satisfied with the final result.

Best,

Valerie

Hi Wendy,

In response to your last response:
All of your concerns regarding the way Miracle Fit was installed is due to the fact that it was meant to be installed in the front of the shade, not behind as you requested. This is why there is some light peaking through. Once again, I provided a personal apology over the phone. I’m sorry you feel cheated, but I did find an alternative solution to which I provided a discount. Please keep in mind that the major part of the project, the window covering, was provided and installed correctly. Therefore I do not find a single star rating is fairly provided.

Best,

Valerie
