Last Christmas morning with all the activities of the season in full swing, we had a basement flood.
We called emergency plumbers who determined that the issue was not an internal pipe leakage. They suggested calling the Town and their engineer determined that the problem was not external piping. The question of a foundation leak secondary to the recent "freeze-thaw" weather was bandied about. A suggestion that we "caulk" the area was put forward but we were left on our own.
As neophytes in the home repair business and with no shops open, we armed ourselves with bathroom caulking but realized we lacked the 'application gun'. My husband went to our neighbour Peter knowing his tool collection was extensive. With great enthusiasm, Peter Hughes himself arrived and undertook to diagnose and solve the problem (a foundation leak) with the right equipment (not caulking) and a very jolly attitude. He saved our Christmas! And the basement is dry!
We would and have recommended him as a competent, reliable professional whose work is top notch.
