Kitchen and Bathroom Renovations

We had a very very bad experience with this company and its operators. We invited Bernardo to our house and showed the job to him and nothing was kept in secret or for doubts. He agreed on all the job work and expected to gave us a quote. Quote was giving after few bargains it was accepted and work flow was decided.
1. Please be careful what they agree verbally it must be on the quote otherwise they would use that as weapon to charge extraordinary for small and important jobs during the renovations of already ripped off walls and floors and you have no option but to accept it. Any design flaws even though prepared by them you have to pay the price as they quote you to fix those.
2.When we had some dispute about some of the jobs he refuse to do even though agreed to do earlier, According to them all job descriptions agreed on email related to that quote has no legal value.
3. When you miss something in the quote or contract they charge you premium price for eg: Putting a water pipe for Ice maker Refrigerator cost us $300 + Tax but when they mess up on their part they expect you to deduct $50 or $100 for a $450 item. For Eg: Their employees mixed up grout in our new kitchen Sink and they said its an accident and they are not going to change the sink but would like to take $50 off the total payment.
4. We had customized kitchen and during those designing Brenda agreed through email (Email proof is there) for wall unit in line with base unit but when the cabinet was installed it was not and when we showed her she was laughing and no regret or apology and did not want us to deduct anything for that.
5. Operators were very uncourteous : At one point my wife had to tell her not to yell outside of our apartment and request her to come inside and reach to solution of problem caused by their own design.
6. Materials and Supplies Purchase: While signing of agreement and contract they would happily told you that they would buy the materials but later they would remind you every minute of conversation by calling it a big favour from them to you.
7. Material Pricing: Integrity is totally doubtful as they had to put 4 pot lights and they told us they purchase it as it would help in measurements and design. We agreed. They told us they are going to charge us $40.00 +Tax for 1 Pot light and the box was purchased from HD and it cost $75+ Tax for 6 Pot lights. When we showed them the same box we got for them they said their contractor bought it from USA what a joke........
8. Please tell me who does put fillers in drawings of Kitchen designs and its for the later when and where its needed....he refused to put the fillers on top of Pantry and claimed its not in design thus he has to charge us extra.
9. Emails: Any emails agreement has no value to them. When we deducted the money for ruining our new sink they refuse to pint our Laundry and bathroom doors as that was not specifically mentioned in agreement (Even though Full Bathroom Renovations from scratch were expected and they did it ). But according to them Bathroom doors were not called part of bathroom renovations. In couple of previous emails it was clearly agreed by them to do but they told us emails are not contract so no values.
10. It was worse and really very tiring experience to deal with them.
11. I know one of the operator from my job and after getting out of the agreement and cashing the check he stopped by at my work place and spread rumors about continuity of my job...how unprofessional.

Approximate cost of services:
$17,500.00

Company Response

Hi Vik
When there is an agreement both parts have to follow it. I understand sometimes customers believe that items out of the agreement should be included, however everything has a cost involved and I cannot absorb it. Depending on the difficulty of the work then a quote is given and you as a customer decide if you want to move forward or get a different contractor.
I am sorry you wrote this message trying to hurt my business. Last week before settling the bill you were telling everyone at your work how good my craftmanship was. I even receive a few calls asking me for quotes which I really appreciate.
I hope you understand that we did everything as per the contract and could not accept what you offer, giving us receipts to claim taxes on money's you expend, to get additional work done is something we do not do. We follow the rules and pay taxes.
Lastly, myself and my crew are proud of the job we did and know that you have a great kitchen, bathrooms and laundry.
