We recently moved into our home which was renovated in the early 1990s. We noticed a significant gradient in our heating. Our basement was cold an unpleasant (more so than any basement I have lived in) while our third floor was too hot and main floor somewhere in the middle but still uncomfortable. I noticed most of the basement registers had zero appreciable airflow and the main floor registers had some but not very strong airflow. To add to the matter, our home had a furnace in the attic and the attic (not renovated) felt like a sauna. Probably a large amount of leakage in the attic alone...
After some research, I came across Aeroseal and spoke with Victor. Victor was a pleasure to work with. His preliminary assessment was similar to my own, and I was willing to try sealing the ducts to see if there was improvement.
We had a moderate amount of leakage and luckily no disconnected ducts. After the sealing and balancing, there was a noticeable difference in the basement and main floor with smaller and more expected temperature differences between the basement, main floor and 2nd floor. The basement is now a livable space. Most importantly, the attic doesn't feel like a sauna and I'm confident my furnace isn't working overtime and heating my attic for no reason.
Victor was a pleasure to work with.
The job was completed by Yuri and another Victor both of whom were very professional and courteous. I suspect working in a small unfinished attic was one of their tougher jobs but they certainly got it done and what a great job.
I also had one register that was half enclosed by custom crown mouldings. Yuri and Victor were very mindful of this, and cut my moulding just enough to remove the register and spent time patching it up for me so it looked presentable. I was quite pleased with their service.
Overall highly recommended
